Guest guest
Hi all, Many of the carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae ( such as E coli, K pneumoniae, Enterobacter, Proteus, etc.) have been found to carry the NDM-1 (New Delhi metallo-b-lactamase) gene. These NDM-1 positive Enterobacteriaceae or the 'superbugs' do exist and and are the frightening signals for us to be alert and actually practice the rational use of antibiotics before it is too late. 'Lancet' did feel later (especially when the editor was on visit to India !!) that the naming of some notorious type of bacteria should not have been on the name of a particular city, but also added that the scientific research content and data of the paper published remained valid, important, comtemporary, true and alarming enough for the practitioners to wake up.
