Dear sir/madam,

We are organizing a 3-day `Workshop on Clinical Biostatistics' at SGPGI, Lucknow

on April 29, 2011 to May 1, 2011 (Friday to Sunday). The topics proposed to be

covered (to varying levels of depth) include: types of data in clinical studies,

data distribution, normal distribution, central limit theorem, extrapolation

from sample to population, confidence intervals for means and proportions,

interpretation of p values, use of statistical tests for comparisons of means

and proportions, relative risks and odds ratios, survival data and methods used

for their analysis, case-control and cohort studies, confounding and

interaction, etc.

Accommodation will be available on prior booking in the Institute guest house.

There is no registration fee for the workshop: The number of participants will

be limited to around 25.

Those interested may send a one-page write-up (please do not send a CV or

document longer than one page) summarizing their qualifications, training,

experience/expertise in clinical research, present position and activities by

March 22, 2011 to sgpgi.courses@.... Those who attended a similar course

on biostatistics organized by our group in 2009-2010 should not apply again. The

selected participants will be informed by April 5, 2011. Any questions may also
