Guest guest
Hi, thanks for the info but I'm confussed. I had my consultaion with Dr. Bihari and he told me it was ok to use with avonex. I'm very confussed as to why he would say this to me. I have been using LDN 4.5 mg every night and avonex once a week for 7 months now. I'm doing well and my last MRI (august) showed no progression. I know this could change and I'm not saying your wrong but I thought I was doing well now I don't know what to think. I guess I need to talk to him again. --- In low dose naltrexone , " Bren " <TwisterAlley2@w...> wrote: > If you take an immune suppressant with your LDN like interferons, chemo or steroids you may not get a halt in your MS progression, you may get some symptom improvement but progression may not halt due to the immune system suppressant. If you have progression of your MS and are taking an immune suppressant along with the LDN, LDN cannot be blamed for your progression. Bihari has clearly stated that LDN and interferons and steroids are not compatible. > >

For those who continue to take interferons with LDN, you aren't protected by LDN from exacerbation.

When I spoke to Bihari I specifically asked the question about LDN and interferons; my mom was on the phone with us in a 3 way conversation and he said it's okay to take LDN with interferons but that one can possibly still have new exacerbations with combining interferons with LDN. LDN's effectiveness is not near as strong with an interferon in the mix. The next time you speak to Bihari ask him if coming off the Avonex and just being on LDN only would be best. He will probably gradually try to wean you away from the Avonex. Read the website again about which CRAB drugs are compatible with LDN. Bihari is probably trying not to cause you problems with your neuro by pulling you off your Avonex. And also, I'm not positive but since LDN is not FDA approved for the treatment of MS it may be illegal for him to tell you to come off the Avonex. He's probably hoping you'll see the good in LDN and make the decision to come off the Avonex yourself like many others have in the past.
