Original / scientific article

Letter to editor / correspondence

Case report, short communication

Review article

Editorial

Letter to Editor:

- Completes the process of communication since brings feedback to the journal

- Can be used to comment in favor or against a previous publication,

Convey a case report, give concise information of new data, Comment on general

issues which are of concern to readers, or comment on the journal's policies.

Writing a case report:

What happened to the patient ?

The time course of events as they occured

Why management followed the way it did?

Be brief : avoid irrelevant details,repetition

Illustrations/ photographs may be of use.

Short communication:

Concise write up

No beating around the bush

No subheadings

Short one para intro

Very limited review of literature

Single table and no diagrams

Upto 8-10 references
