Guest guest
Dear Members, Drug safety is an important concern globally. Patient safety is of utmost priority considering the safe use of drugs. Drugs are meant to treat the ailment not to harm the patient but drugs are causing severe injuries to the patients, hospitalizations, and even in some cases death. what could be the reason? why drugs are considered as culprit for such mishaps? Are we going in right direction? Are we ensuring the safety of the patients? Are patients satisfied with the treatment? Many doubts but solution is lying somewhere with us. We are not vigilant while using drugs. Drugs are administered with the hope that patient will respond better but patients may respond or behave in a different manner. How best we can do for our patients? Is it possible to prevent such adverse drug events? Can we communicate better to our patients? Yes we can do. There is a need for constant monitoring, detection, analysis and reporting of adverse drug events. In some circumstances, ADEs can be avoided. Patient could be protected before they suffer. Let us look at the FDA initiatives for monitoring of drugs while in use (Post marketing surveillance). Tarun Wadhwa
