Top Ten Stories in Fight for Access to Medicines

New Year and new opportunities. Take a moment to look back at the big stories

that made a difference for good and for bad in the world of access to medicines

and where we need to go in 2011 to continue the fight to widen access for those

most in need.

We've brought together the most exciting stories of 2010: a revolutionary new

vaccine for meningitis A, a new TB test that dramatically accelerates diagnosis,

new research on severe malaria to benefit children, first patent in the

Medicines Patent Pool and food aid that begins to meet nutritional needs of

young children.

On the downside: donors turn their back on AIDS, generic drugs under threat from

new trade deals, measles makes a comeback, and neglected tropical diseases that

continue to take a heavy toll.
