Guest guest
Pressure Wounds Can Lead To Serious Health Problems Reported by Dana Lynn McIntyre WJBF NewsCHANNEL 6 Monday, October 11, 2004 Augusta - Actor Reeve's death brings a common medical problem into the spotlight. " Pressure wounds " are commonly referred to as " bed sores. " Tony Cato, a patient at Walton Rehabilitation Hospital, is confined to a wheelchair due to multiple sclerosis. His wheelchair is equipped with a special cushion, and he uses foam wedges in bed, to help relieve pressure on his skin. But Cato, from Aiken, South Carolina, knows the best way to help prevent pressure wounds lies in his own hands. " You need to move, get into re-hab. Do everything possible. Some days people will tell you what you need to do and you'll say, I can't. But you've got to try, to do all you can do. Nationwide, nearly one-and-a-half billion dollars is spent treating pressure wounds, each year. Terms & Conditions Copyright © 2004 WJBF-TV. A Media General Broadcast Station.
