Guest guest
Yes, Dr. Furhmann, please leave this forum. If you were truly out for the better of all MSers then you would contact Dr. Bahari IF you've truly found another way. You wouldn't just be dealing with us scientifically inept. Something is definitely not right here. Guest guest
Wouldn't findings be more " important " if more than one doctor discussed them. Wouldn't it be advantageous for " many " to communicate on this subject? I have no understanding of " why " an intelligent, scientific-minded, person, would not want to discuss his theories with like-others. If you sincerely believe in your findings, wouldn't you choose to relate them to others in your field. If not, maybe it would be a good idea if you continued posting on your own forum. If I had a great idea, I would certainly want to discuss it with someone else who was working towards the same goal. But, it seems as though you would rather just " use " us and our experiences. Guest guest
Alison Sorry if someone has already answered your post but I couldn't see a reply. I don't currently take LDN although I am very interested in it. It is very common for post-partum women to undergo a serious relapse. As it is also very common for women to undergo remission while pregnant. Because of this there is currently a lot of research into eostrogen / progesterone and the effect on MS. In light of this I would suggest that your current worsening is far more attributable to your recent pregnancy than LDN. I'm sure there are others here who can provide more direct information on this. Guest guest
Hi Ali, I'm surprised to hear your having those type symptoms at 9 months. Usually pregnancy and MS (especially after the first trimester) like each other and the majority do well while pregnant. I believe I can speak for not all but many when I say that we've all experienced all our symptoms like foggy head, fatigue, balance issues, etc while on LDN. Though with me, it only lasts a short while and quickly gets better I've been on LDN since Feb.)My big suggestion is this, since an MS flare up is much more common within 5 or so months after you give birth, please make sure your taking your LDN immediately after your bundle of joy has arrived. Your going to have to play around with the dose to decide what's best for you anywhere from 2.0mg - 4.5mg. Good luck and I hope this was helpful! -----Original Message----- From: Alison Kennedy [mailto:alison@...] Sent: Monday, October 04, 2004 9:58 AM low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] LDN side effects etc hi apologies to those on spotlightLDN forum for getting the question again, but thought i'd post here as there's lots more people that might be able to help. i started my LDN (3mg) about 2 weeks ago. the first morning after the first capsule i felt fantastic - a burst of energy, feeling good etc, by the afternoon i was very tired. i've gone down hill since, i've experienced every MS symptom i've ever had in the first week - ON worse than usual, incredible fatigue, foggy head, leg spasms, balance off for a couple of days, dizziness etc. i then got a cracking headache for a couple of days and nausea too. this prompted me to start taking the LDN each alternate night, and i'm about to start on 2mg each night, to see if this suits me better. taking the LDN each alternate night has alleviated some of the symptoms, but i now have new ones ! i have chest pains and my legs are really stiff (i've read the leg thing is a common problem so was expecting it - does it go eventually though ??). my question is - i know that most people just start to feel great as soon as they start their LDN. is there anyone out there who has had similar problems as me and is still doing really well on the LDN ? i'm desperate for this to work, i've been pregnant for the last 9 months so have been waiting anxiously to start my treatment, and giving up on it just isn't really an option for me. thanks ali
Guest guest
Thanks so much for your post Robin - there was a lot of response to my posting, but most of it was dr fuhrman and then people talking to him, no-one has really posted to me replying. i'm aware of the risks post-pregnancy, and went into the pregnancy knowing this. but now it does seem a lot more scary than it did before ! my understanding (which i think you were also saying ) is that during pregnancy, there is a certain immunity to the MS. after pregnancy, any relapse i would have had during pregnancy, will then hit me. the most recent research does suggest that in the one year period of pregnancy and afterwards, the number of relapses are the same as the control groups of non-pregnant women. the reason i doubt that this worstening is another relapse is that i have nothing new at all, just the 5 or so symptoms that i've had getting worse. i'm also seeing other symptoms now that i've not had for a couple of years coming back for a few days and then going again - really strange all in all ! thanks so much for your post, much appreciated. i hope this will help other people that are starting on LDN and not feeling too good on it. i'm planning to stick with it, and i'll post if anything good happens ! ali Alison Sorry if someone has already answered your post but I couldn't see a reply.
