Guest guest
Hi,I am Sandeep from Ludhiana with interest in Epilepsy. We shall discuss the " Pharmacogenomics of epilepsy " . Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder with a prevalence rate of about 1% and constitutes an important health care need of the country. It is disease mired with myths regarding its etiologies and treatment. It is one of diseases associated with stigma. In this present era of genomics the therapy can be guided with inputs from genomics to control the seizures in patients with epilepsy and guide the pharmacotherapy. Genomics play an important role in selecting an appropriate drug for the patient, modifying the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and hence overall response. It can also predict serious and severe ADRs with Anti-epileptic drugs and hence they can be avoided/prevented. We will discuss the various aspects one by one. Let us do it to make optimal utilization of knowledge and resources at hand to increase our knowledge and understand the practicalities of the advances in science.
