Betsy,

I ran across the Marshall Protocol Study site several months ago. Upon

reading it, my immediate reaction was similar to yours, that I should stop

taking my cod liver oil. However, since then I have read refutations of the

Marshall Protocol from two sources that I trust, a 2008 issue of the Weston

A. Price quarterly journal Wise Traditions (I think as a response to a

letter to the editor) and

http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/search?q=marshal. These sources are not

disputing Marshall's contention that oftentimes chronic infections are

underlying chronic conditions, but I thought they effectively made the case

for the wisdom of Vitamin D supplementation and refuted the reasons used by

Marshall for his Protocol. Dr. , the cardiologist who writes the

heartscanblog, considers Vitamin D, EPA & DHA, and fish oil to be essential

components of his program to prevent and reverse cardiac disease.

What is most troubling to me is that " Dr " Marshall's degrees are in

electrical engineering! Complete avoidance of vitamin D can be fatal, it

is an essential steroid hormone that helps us avoid cancer, bone, and

heart disease. I too enjoy reading Dr. 's blog Lynn!

-Do you see that there are a lot of people at that website getting

over really serious diseases? Have you read Amy Proal's website,

www.bacteriality.com?

I didn't expect everyone to agree with even part of his information

seeing as right now there a lots and lots of people recommending Vit

D.

We were not designed to get anything out of a pill or bottle. But we

don't have access to, and most of us would probably hate the taste of,

plain old fish liver. For my part, I take a bit of Garden of Life COL

and spend very many hours, all summer long, outdoors doing things I

need to do or like to do. Productive labour. Growing Food. And at

the same time I am getting those wonderful rays of the sun. This is

the best I can do. Modern life is not perfection, civilization is no

damn good for us. So we do what we can. Me, anyway! And I eat my

greens & drink some carrot juice, too. Then I say some prayers of

thanks for everything, and am done with it. It occurred to me that

fretting too much is not good for us. - mrs. b.

Hi All, I really recommend looking at the Weston Price site, "Vitamin A, Vitamin D and Cod Liver Oil: some Clarifications" athttp://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/clarifications.htmlNo nutrient stands alone and works in balance and symbiosis with other nutrients so just taking Vitamin D is probably not the optimum thing to do. Makes sense. Sylvia
