Guest guest
Betadine is also Povidone- Iodine Povidone-iodine (PVPI) is a water-soluble complex of iodine with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), with from 9.0% to 12.0% available iodine, calculated on a dry basis Lugol's Formula Lugol's solution consists of 5 g iodine (I2) and 10 g potassium iodide (KI) mixed with 85 ml distilled water, to make a brown solution with a total iodine content of 130 mg/mL Povidone is Iodine only and Lugol's is Iodine and Iodide. You cannot ingest Povidone. Steph strength difference between lugol's and betadine Hello Everyone--I am attempting to treat a resistant glabrata-variety vaginal yeastinfection with iodine but I am having a hard time figuring out whatconcentration I need to use and the difference in strength betweenthe products. I currently have betadine, but it occurred to me thatLugol's might be much stronger. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Thanks,
Guest guest
Thanks Steph. I saw this explanation or similar in the links section. It's hard for me to make sense out of these numbers and what they mean in terms of strength (particularly anti-infectious). I guess what I " m wondering in plain terms is what would be the strength difference between say two tablespoons of Lugol's and two tablespoons of Betadine? Thanks, > > Betadine is also Povidone- Iodine > Povidone-iodine (PVPI) is a water-soluble complex of iodine with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), with from 9.0% to 12.0% available iodine, calculated on a dry basis > > Lugol's Formula > Lugol's solution consists of 5 g iodine (I2) and 10 g potassium iodide (KI) mixed with 85 ml distilled water, to make a brown solution with a total iodine content of 130 mg/mL > > Povidone is Iodine only and Lugol's is Iodine and Iodide.
