We started my son on 1/4 gr of Armour - he is 9 and 66 lbs now and on 120 mgs (2 gr). I can't tell you what to do. That has to be your decision. My son's labs (TSH & T4) looked a lot like hers.

Thyroid Treatment & Iodine Levels In Kids

Hi,My dd (8 yrs old) is overweight, (115 lbs) and has other hypo symptomsand is even getting gray hairs!I had her thyroid testedTSH = 3.41 (.3 - 5.5)T4 = 1.18 (.9 - 1.8)T3 total = 227 (70 - 170)There is a STRONG history of thyroid autoimmune disorders in our family.MD won't test anti's and thinks her TSH is fine so I'm on my own.Anyway, I'm looking into Celiacs and learning a lot.I have had her on 12.5 Iodoral/day for several weeks and have noticeda *slight* weight reduction and better energy. She still has grayhairs coming in which is very bizarre in a n 8 yr old don't you think? She takes b complex, vit C, CLO daily and a bit of selenium severaltimes weekly.I am tempted to start her on a 1/8 - 1/4 gr Armour. What do you think? Thanks!DD

Thanks Steph (And i do understand it has to be my choice - I wasn't

directing the question at you specifically - though I appreciate you

responding. :D)

I think I'll graph her temps for a bit and see.

The gray hair is worrisome - I've read it can be low ferritin, b12 or

hypo. Her MD (HMO) thinks I'm from Mars for wanting to do more blood

work - it's infuriating sometimes.

You should also get her fasting blood sugar and fasting insulin checked to see if they are in range. Likely, at least the insulin will be high if she is overweight and the doctor could recommend some lifestyle changes to lower it. It can cause problems with her cycles and even future fertility if she goes into puberty with it high.
