Not true. You can still get 5% in one ounce bottles, just not larger and no more than one at a time.

Just not true. Here's another source for 5%. You are limited in buying only one by DEA regulations.

That is not true. 5% is available in 2 oz or less sizes. Here is the DEA info http://www.jcrows.com/iodinealert.html You can get 5% with a prescription for compounding pharmacies in larger sizes.

Hi, I came across this page in a search and after reading about what precentages might be in some lugol's, I thought you might want to look at it. I make my own solution, so it doesn't really affect me.http://www.health-science-spirit.com/lugol.htm Color coding for safety: Windows Live Hotmail alerts you to suspicious email. Sign up today.

Hi DukeIt tells you the percentages on that page somewhere, but it is basically 10% potassium iodide and 5% iodine in water. I think I found out how to make it from a recipe on the curezone site after a search for it. 10mg of pottasium iodide mixed with 85ml of water first then add 5mg of iodine to make a total of 100ml of lugol's. The iodine won't dissolve in water till it has been mixed with the potassium iodide. I don't know if this is what everyone else is using but that's what I use.I have read that it is difficult to obtain iodine in US but you can buy potassium iodide crystals on ebay and other sites in the US. There are a few videos on youtube showing how to make iodine solution out of potassium iodide but not sure about the strength http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CLhwkFKLdPAI also found a page about how they first discovered how to make iodine from seaweed while making gunpowder - http://www.mnwelldir.org/docs/history/iodine.htmMy main interest in iodine is for a rare spinal cord disease I have called syringomyelia similar to MS. Apparently potassium iodide was used in victorian times for spinal cord problems as well as all the other uses. I read a few pages about victorian drs and iodine but can't seem to find them now. I got sinus type headaches when I first started using it but can take a dropper full at a time now.Seems they used to use iodine much more in olden times than they do now. I sw an old advert from about 1950 on ebay uk for 'crookes iodine oil' which was applied to painful areas much like the magnesium oil some of you know about. I am a user of magnesium oil that I make myself. I also found an old advert in out local street life museum for 'simpsons iodine socks'. The socks were said to improve circulation and remove toxins. On looking into that further I found they actually make socks in New Zealand now with iodine and silver threads added to them http://www.mnwelldir.org/docs/history/iodine.htmHope this helps. Hi KathyI have tried potassium iodide solution in a spray bottle and sprayed on my throat. I can remember my granny having iodine ointment when we where kids but they don't seem to sell it anymore here (I am in England). I make colloidal silver and use it regularly. You can stop sore throats, colds, flu, coughs, before they get a hold if you use it straight away and it doesn't taste of anything. Haven't has any of those things for years now.In England they even started selling pyjamas for hospital patients that are impregnated with silver to stop you getting MRSA, and you can get bandaids with silver in them as well. I was wondering how much information a pharmocopoeia has on the uses for iodine and other old remedies? Do they list the use of the preperations in them? Seen old ones for sale ebay dating back to 1800's.I like to use several things which all have their own uses and the

main things I use are colloidal silver, transdermal magnesium (made from dead sea salt), iodine, hydrogen peroxide.GP > hey Gp,> You were talking about old adds for iodine, I wanted to add to that my mom who is 75 told me that her dad used it on there throats everytime they had sore throats , they were painted. they also used to paint it on sprained ankles and every time you got a cut the bottle of iodine came out. > kathy

I am sorry, in a hurry I sent a blank mail. But here I go.

Graham, wouldn't it be easier to drop two drops of Lugol's in a glass of water and gargle with it without drinking it, rather than using Potassium Iodide spray? I have both Lugol's and Potassium Iodide (KI). My KI is in the form of crystals. I will have to crush them and dissolve in water and then get a spray. Too much hassle for me. Gargles with Lugol's sounds more convenient to me. Lugol's has both iodine and iodide. By the way, I also have Tincture Iodine and the atomic or nascent iodine and Betadine.------------------------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@...- Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education.- Author of "Nutrition & Supplements in Major Mental Illnesses";- M.A.

Hi psych docI just meant that I have used the potassium iodide as a spray, I like to experiment and mix things up to see what happens. I wasn't trying to say that it works better that way. My potassium iodide was in crystals but they dissolve easily in water without having to crush them. I think although this talk about silver might be a bit off topic, hopefully we can learn about other useful minerals etc. I actually prefer colloidal silver to stop anything like cough, sore throat, cold, flu. I haven't been using iodine that long but have used silver for years with good results for all those tyype of problems. You can spray silver into tired eyes as well because there is no stinging or pain from silver. Other ways to stop a cold or ear problem is using a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in a 6% or similar in your ear or the silver. You can hear a fizzing noise for a while after using peroxide in your ear. Peroxide will sting in a open wound though. Apart from silver killing off infection it also heals up faster too. My diabetic neighbour has problems healing up any cuts etc and used it on his arm. He couldn't believe how fast it healed up. I told him to soak a piece of kitchen paper in colloidal silver and lay it on. I make the silver myself with the 3 - 9volt batteries and 2 pieces of silver wire. I know some might say its not the best way to make it but it has always been ok for me and costs virtually nothing. Getting back to iodine. I have had a problem with one side of my head where it has red patch on my scalp. I have been washing my hair with bentonite clay, then spraying on some potassium iodide. The skin looks much better after only a few days. Oh I remebered why I used potassium iodide instead of iodine - because KI is clear and doesn't seem to stain.GP>> I am sorry, in a hurry I sent a blank mail.
