Guest guest
There is no gluten in Iodoral. No need to worry. It could be stuff coming out through the skin. Add some zinc and clean your face with Epsom salt / hydrogen peroxide water. Steph Is this a detox symptom? I have been taking 50mg of Iodoral and selenium and Vit C for a couple of weeks now and have recently added the co-factors and Magnesum. Christmas day I developed an itching and burning hive on my right eyebrow and another welt further up on my hairline. I know about the salt loading and vit C and that maybe I should add 25mg of Zinc when the detox symptom are skin related. I just want to know if that sounds like a detox symptom. More worried than uncomfortable. Also the book Dangerous Grains warns about pharmaceutical products having gluten in their glazes. Should we be concerned about Iodoral? Guest guest
Iodine " activates " stored IgA in the skin. This is an issue for people with dermatitis herpetiformis ... the IgA from the gluten allergy is stored in the skin. Iodine " activates " it (dunno exactly what that means, chemically). Then it starts causes rashes. For years I figured shrimp must be gluten contaminated, for that reason! It takes years for the stored IgA to go away. I don't know if that counts as " detox " but it's a known issue. Caladryl (topical benadryl, an antihistamine) helps. I wonder if Vit C can be used topically? Guest guest
Are you 100% sure everything over the counter you are taking is gluten free? I do not trust labels. I will email the company and double check that things are gluten, dairy and soy free. If you are gluten free are you also dairy and soy free? This might be an allergy popping up? Guest guest
Hi, I had a hive like reaction when I started supplementing with Iodine - I was painting with Lugols for about 2 weeks before the Iodoral arrived. The reaction started about a week and a half into the painting and increased pretty badly a couple of days after I started Iodoral. Was talking about hive reactions recently and someone mentioned that they would get a hive reaction whenever they had yeast related die off -which makes sense for me as I have candida issues. To handle it, I stopped the Iodine, used Epsom salt baths, and increased supplements of Vit C, Mag, Grapeseed Extract, Vit E, fish oils. Research that I did took me to the site www.watercure.com where I learnt that seasalt and water in balance act as the bodies natural histamine regulators - hence I guess the common sense of using the salt and water protocol - it might even help to use a salt and water mix to soothe the hive spots. The other interesting thing is that the hives indicate that for some reason there is too much histamine around which is an indication of being undermethylated - so this is where the B vitamins probably come in as helpful - I guess the methionine form of Selenium too although I get a bit lost when it comes to methyl donors. Once it cleared I started the Iodoral again and increased slowly - after about 2 months had another itchy skin reaction - mostly in the midtrunk area, although it started spreading onto my legs - it looked sort of ringwormy fungalish and was pretty itchy, but cleared after about 3-4 weeks. Guest guest
oh and PS. Forgot to mention I also went gluten free when I had the first reaction, but didn't last very long with it and am now just being wheat avoidant to about the same level I have been for quite a few years. Guest guest
I started a thread about 10 days ago on my detox symptoms. My symptoms started after about 10 weeks on Iodoral. I was up for about 100 mgs then the symptoms started. I have had a weird burning and insane itching now for weeks. Mostly upper chest and right below bra strap, near m y elbows and woke up two days ago with a pain in my ear. I stopped the Iodoral for 3 days and started up again, 2 per day. I have been salt loading and it isn't helping anymore. My neck is starting to itch a bit and I wonder if the symptoms are moving up and out. I have never had a rash, just the itching and the only proof of the itching are the scares from scratching so hard. I wish it would stop already. Trying to keep up with the program. If this was a fungus coming through the skin wouldn't there be some evidence of it? a rash or something that you could see? Guest guest
Things your body needs for methylation - folic acid, B6, B12 and methyl donors. Methyl donors include SAMe, Choline, trimethylglycine (TMG), lecithin, phosphatidylcholine, and phosphatidylserine.
