Guest guest
Hi, I have a friend aged 58 who had thyroid cancer about 15 years ago. She had half her thyroid removed and she was treated with radioactive iodine. The cancer has not returned but her sister recently died of it. My friend has had severe psoriasis and arthritis for many years. She does smoke and her mother was diabetic and had to have both legs amputated. I have just found that thyroid cancer can be caused by iodine deficiency. I feel she may have ben deficient from birth along with her sister. I cannot advise her to take iodine without supervision/proefessional advice but should she? I would be very glad of peoples opinions on this forum. Thanks. Adrienne. Guest guest
She should take it. I am an 8 1/2 year thyca survivor. Read my story on www.naturalthyroidchoices.com (blog) for more info. She also needs selenium - probably 400 mcg or more due to the smoking. That eliminates selenium which is used in DNA creation. It is critical. Diabetes is tied to low iodine as well as skin conditions. She probably has a toxic liver - how is her diet? Arthritis - my suspicion is that she is on T4 only meds (levoxyl or synthroid) and her free T3 and Free T4 levels are low. thyroid cancer and iodine > Hi, > I have a friend aged 58 who had thyroid cancer about 15 years ago.
