Guest guest
Maybe this is obvious but can you explain why the directions with the spot test and loading test say to not consume any iodine for 48hr prior to collecting? And do these directions apply for repeat tests too? Thanks, Marlena > >> > >> > >> >> >> > > >> > >> > >> >> >> > I just received the results of my iodine loading test, > >> > > and it > >> > >> > >> > was > >> > >> > >> >> >> very > >> > >> > >> >> >> > good.(84% saturation) I should be happy. Guest guest
I believe it is because the body circulates " newly " consumed iodine for a while before absorbing it. It will give a false reading when done this way. You will always be concerned with this when taking this test. Steph Re: results of loading test > Maybe this is obvious but can you explain why the directions with the spot > test and > loading test say to not consume any iodine for 48hr prior to collecting? > > And do these directions apply for repeat tests too? > > Thanks, > Marlena > > > >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > I just received the results of my iodine loading >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > test, >> >> > > and it >> >> > >> > >> > was >> >> > >> > >> >> >> very >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > good.(84% saturation) I should be happy. Guest guest
Thanks, . I have been thinking and 24 hours sticks in my head. So I think that is where the problem is. I must have only stopped my multi vitamin for 24 hours, we may also have had fish within that previous day. Man, I wish I hadn't messed up, but hopefully Dr. Flechas can work around my boo-boo. Thanks again to all of you- Blessings, Vicki > >> > >> > >> >> >> > > >> > >> > >> >> >> > I just received the results of my iodine loading test, > >> > > and it > >> > >> > >> > was > >> > >> > >> >> >> very > >> > >> > >> >> >> > good.(84% saturation) I should be happy. Guest guest
I was so afraid I would mess mine up. I read the instructions time and time again. Steph Re: results of loading test > Thanks, . Guest guest
You are welcome. I know that Dr Abraham is working on other ways to test for levels but they are not " ready for prime time " yet. He has had a loading test of mine since last December and still no results. I just did another loading test 2 weeks ago and took it into my appt with Dr. B on the 2nd. He can run his own tests now. I can't wait to find out what my level is now. This has been my dosing: Mar '06 - Oct '06 - 50 mgs Oct '06 - Jan '07 - 75 mgs Jan '07 - Oct '07 - 50 mgs Oct '07 - Feb ' 08 - 100 mgs Feb '08 - July '08 - 50 mgs Current - 100 mgs I have bounced around a lot with detoxing issues and the last time I dropped it down because I didn't think it mattered. Well it did. I felt tired so up I went and now I feel good again. I started at a spot level of 0 (no loading done). My loading at Aug '07 was 60%. My second in Dec '07 was 66%. Making very slow progress! Guest guest
IF one did finally achieve 100% saturation, what would happen if you kept on taking, say, 50-100 mg? Would the body just throw it off? I started at a spot level of 0 (no > loading done). My loading at Aug '07 was 60%. My second in Dec '07 was > 66%. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing all of that. It's so great that you are feeling better now! My spot test was .049, defined as moderate deficiency, but I had been taking a bit of iodine prior (though not in the 48hrs before), so it probably would have been a lot lower if I hadn't... My first loading test result was 73%, then after 3 months of 50mg, it was 63% (evidence of the defective NIS thing we discussed before). I am wondering how you felt when your levels were 60% and 66%? I'm asking because some people feel great right away on the iodine, but I haven't. I'm wondering what level I have to be at to start feeling some improvements! I'm also wondering if my loading test will go down further, before it goes up! (hope not!) Thanks to everyone for sharing their experience. It's helpful! -Marlena > >> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > > >> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > I just received the results of my iodine loading > >> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > test, > >> >> >> > > and it > >> >> >> > >> > >> > was > >> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> very > >> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > good.(84% saturation) I should be happy. Guest guest
Yes you would just throw it off which is why the loading test works. They measure what is thrown off. I don't think it is possible to be at 100% since your body is always using some. Guest guest
Unfortunately I was doing a lot more than iodine supplementation ( had just switched to armour, had amalgams remove and was chelating and more) so it is difficult to tie iodine to how I felt. Guest guest
In doing an iodine loading test, you need Dr. B to read it ? What about doing an iodine test myself ? Wouldn't the Lab interpert it ? Thanks, Re: results of loading test Ok that confirms for me that those directions are in fact important, even for follow up tests - which I wasn't sure about before, so thank you!-Marlena> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> >> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > I just received the results of my iodine loading > >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > test,> >> >> > > and it> >> >> > >> > >> > was> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> very> >> >> > >> > >> >> >> > good.(84% saturation) I should be happy. Guest guest
Who was this question directed at? The lab sends you a report with the loading numbers but unless you know what the numbers mean you won't understand it all. That's why many post results here or do a consult with Dr. Flechas. Guest guest
You don't have to do the loading test but I think it is a good idea to get a baseline to see where you are and then a follow up 6 mos later to determine if you have an underlying issue like Symporter issues that need to be corrected with Vit C and an ATP Co-Factor. Steph Re: results of loading test Yes, I thank you too, Steph! One more question - must we do a loading test at all? If yes, why is that? I thought the premise is that we are all deficient to begin with! Angel 2g. Sometimes I need it spelled out VERY simple :-) That helped me understand it perfectly!!!!!!!!!
Guest guest
The question was directed at anyone who knew.. Sorry I wasn't clearer.. Steph - I was confused as to 'why' you needed a doctor to interpret the results. So we can order a Loading Test on our own, however we still need a Doc to interpret the numbers...That is where Dr Flechas comes in for a Consult. I understand after you know something- a basic question like that is not clear. Thank you for clarifying it for me. Guest guest
No problem. Some may be able to look at it and interpret but then don't know what to do with it and Dr. Flechas gives that advice too.
