Got an answer from "the powers that be".

1. Metformin and Iodine are safe to take together.

2. The issue with contrast iodine test dyes and metformin is that both are toxic to the kidneys nad they create an overload. It is the dye not the iodine that causes this issue.

That's good to know. I've been taking both for a while. I guess its OK to increase the iodorol. I've only been taking 6.25 mg because I was sure with the Metformin ER.

The Iodine is good for your kidneys so I am going to say that it is protective for them.
