Hi dawn

If you were tasting the Armour, then you weren't taking it correctly and it would be going into your tum, so a bit of a wasted exercise. You should put it right under your tongue where your sublingual gland is and leave it there to do its job. Gradually (usually around 45 minutes for me) it will be absorbed through the tiny capillaries into your blood stream where it goes directly to the liver by-passing the stomach acids that can destroy a large percentage of its potency.

Oh - Silly Me. Thanks . I don't think HC should be taken sublingually, unless there is a sublingual variety - in the same way there is the 'cream' variety that is. Is your HC specially for sublingual dosing Dawn.

It's not the stomach acids. Absorption is mostly stopped by globulin,

albumin, and pre-albumin that diffuse out of the blood. These are the

same proteins that bind T4 and T3 in the blood. When they enter the

digestive system (and saliva) they can combine with thyroxines to form

larger molecules that cannot be absorbed.

The main advantage that the sublingual approach offers, is that the

smaller volume involved reduces the time that the meds are exposed to

these binding enzymes. Bypassing the liver in this case is not

particularly helpful. The liver is where most of the T4 is turned into

T3, something you eventually want to have happen, anyway. I am still

skeptical that all of the meds are even absorbed under the tongue, since

it is not hermetically sealed.

I can confirm that, I have rang Dr P 4 times now and only one was a pre booked appointment, I dont think after 3 phone calls he would leave his patients out on a limb and not talk to them--- On Sat, 13/9/08, sheilaturner sheilaturner@...

As patient pay for a private consultation, as with many specialist consultatants, the fee often covers the cost of writing letters to GP's and follow up telephone calls, and the fee paid to Dr Peatfield covers such costs. Most of Dr Peatfield's patients are aware of this, but if they are not, all they need do is ask him. Actually Lilian, his costs cover three follow up telephone calls, but as we all know, he will always be there if his patient needs him beyond this, and he does not charge anything.

I believe that it is, in fact, part and parcel of the first consultation with Dr. P. It includes not only writing to your GP (if you want) but a couple of telephone follow ups as well.
