Guest guest
Welcome to our forum Kathleen and I hope we can help you find some answers, as this is a difficult one. Am I correct in thinking that Evotrox is the liquid version of levothyroxine made by dales and you were prescribed this because you couldn't tolerate one or more of the fillers in Levothyroxine? First, we need to have a look at your last thyroid function tests. These would include Thyroid stimulating Hormone (TSH) Free thyroxine (fT4), Free triiodothyronine (fT3) and have you been tested to see if you have antibodies to your thyroid? You need to post the actual numbers for each of these tests and also the reference ranges for each one too. You can get these from your GP as all patients are entitled to these. You should ask your GP at the same time to test your ferritin level (stored iron), your vitamin B12 and Vitamin D to see whether any or all of these are low. Can you also tell us whether you have been tested to see whether you have antibodies to your thyroid. If you tested positive, it is possible you have other antibodies to another part of your body apart from your thyroid. It is important to get tested to see whether you have Hashimoto's so mention this to your GP. There is obviously something that you are allergic to in the medications you are taking to be causing you such problems and you need to be tested in an allergy clinic to find out the exact cause. Can you give us a bit more information about the pain in your back, where about is this and is it around the area of your kidney's and adrenals (which sit on top of your kidneys). Can you let us know whether you have fluid retention causing swollen feet and legs, as well as puffiness of your face and around the eyes particularly. Do you pass urine frequently and does it ever appear to be frothy, cloudy or blood stained? Do you get any shortness of breath, loss of appetite and do you have high blood pressure. Does the bladder pain feel like cystitis (burning, stinging sensation when you urinate) or is the bladder pain different. Has your doctor ever requested a test to see if you have a Urinary Tract InfectionUTI? What problem did the MRI scan show with your spine? Why has your GP refused to send you to a Pain Clinic? S/he needs to tell you exactly why and you should not be left to suffer in this way. You may also be suffering with systemic candidiasis and/or low adrenal reserve which stops your thyroid hormone replacement from being metabolised. Go to our website www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on 'Hypothyroidism' and then on 'Associated Conditions' and read these documents. You can be tested (but not by an NHS doctor) to see if you do suffer with either of these and we can tell you more about these laboratories if you feel you need to go down these roads. Have a look at the FILES which you can access from the Home Page of this forum website and scroll down until you see both the Adrenal and Candida Questionnaire and complete all those questions and then let us know how you have scored. It does appear that you need to see a specialist and not rely on your GP - she is NOT a specialist and she should not stop looking for answers. Many sufferers of hypothyroidism also suffer Lichen Schlerosis which is yet another autoimmune disease, so do ask your GP to check to see whether you have Hashimoto's disease. If you can answer these questions above (sorry there are so many) we might be able to help a bit more. Luv - Sheila Are you able to come up with an answer to why the back and bladder pain disappear with stopping the thyroxine, and could it if fact cause me problems like other drugs (become a toxin), or is it due to being a type of sodium and the effect on my kidneys, as I do not have any SALT, and have become vegetarian using SOYA MILK AND YOGHURTS for protein. On having LEMON AND HONEY which is supposed to be good for ones kidneys I felt suddenly tired after this. As my GP can no longer do any more what sort of alternative HEALTH ADVISER could I approach for some advice and help. I have after a few days rest from EVOTROX resumed today a small ammount, but could not go on if the pain comes back. I am also being treated for LICHEN SCLEROSUS with DERMOVATE ointment, which the GP should have treated a few years back, as this had been treated in the past.
