If I drink alcohol it turns bright red and becomes obvious. The doctor gave me some cream for it but it didn't work. It is permanent at the moment but about a year or two ago it would come and go in phases. I tried searching it on the net but most of the sites say it is not known what causes it or how to cure it, but maybe it is just another manifestation of the thyroid condition and might go away as I have begun to take armour - I hope!! There is a theory that it could be caused by a parasite that normally lives in the pores on the face becoming over active and too numerous, its called human demodex. Chinese medicine treats some skin complaints such as rosacea and acne as a parasite infection and they have some success, although I haven't yet tried it. Maybe if you could raise your temperature a little (mine is 96.4% F) it might help as these things do seem to be worst with a lower temperature. I tried neem oil for a while, which is indian, but possibly it was too dilute in the blend I bought as it didn't work for me. I tried to buy neem oil in the local health food shop and was told not to put neat neem oil on my skin and they ordered me some diluted with sesame oil. If you do a search on demodex you will find more info, I personally think that this is possible the best theory but we don't really know do we. I would be really pleased if someone out there has the answer. love janet

Hi Janet What you said about the temperature rings true for me. I have only been looking into this for a day or two and have a lot to learn. Have you tried Samento at all Janet? I bought some make-up today to try to disguise it. I was quite shocked when I saw a recent photo of myself that I took for my bus pass as I loooked like someone with a birth mark all over one side of their face.
