Guest guest
taking 50 mg of zinc just as soon as I realize I'm coming down with something usually knocks it in the chops for me. I usually feel a bit off for a day, then am normal. If I wait too long and start when it's worse, I still get it, but just a light case and it's gone in about 3 days. By the way, I sure hope Dr. Bihari is all right and that he's just been on an extended vacation! Reg, where the heck are you! (snow) I'm in Minnesota and we've just had flakes--you must be north of me! Also, maybe some of us that LDN is working for can figure out how to get you some pills from our compounding pharmacies and see if that makes a difference....I believe you said you had little choice about which pharmacy to use because you were rural? is that right? to manchester_terrier: Welcome to the forum and glad to have you with us! Guest guest
Hi Daphne I am about 350 miles north of the fourty-ninth parrallel and yes there is life up here, in fact Kathy is farther north but still we only have about six inches of snow , it's early though I am sure more is on the way. If I could I would buy the revia off of Jan as she can't use it and I can't order it from medsmex. Oh well I go back to my compounder now and see what he says, Since I have not taken my LDN now for three nights I am getting very stiff and dizzy, the physio therapist that came out this morning told me I was quite stiff and hard to move so I will start again tonight. It is interesting though that I still have complete bladder control and the only thing that has changed is that I am getting more immovable. My left hand and arm is now very uselessas it is so stiff and you should see how I walk I should be a puppet. To bad tonight is sooooo far away. Reg. -------Original Message------- From: low dose naltrexone Date: 10/18/04 22:02:29 low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] colds & flu Dr. B. Guest guest
Reg, why did you stop the LDN? I have just started it so I am trying to figure out all the details since I do not have a neurologist. manchester_terrier Hi Daphne I am about 350 miles north of the fourty-ninth parrallel and yes there is life up here, in fact Kathy is farther north but still we only have about six inches of snow , it's early though I am sure more is on the way. Guest guest
-------Original Message------- From: Reg Kreil Date: 10/20/04 12:51:05 low dose naltrexone Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] colds & flu Dr. B. SNOW?!!? Hello As of last night I restarted my nightly LDN at 4.5 mgs. I only stopped to take a three day break from LDN as I (mistakenly too I might add) thought that the LDN was no longer doing anything! Was I ever wrong, slap my fingers, and call me bad! I was so stiff yesterday that getting into my bathtub was impossible, and I don,t mean that lightly I mean impossible for me to raise my leg even my good right one to the height neccessary to clear the tub. My physiotherapist had said that morning that I was feeling very ridgid and told me to go back to what I had previously been doing,She doesn't believe in LDN but she has seen me get worse without it now. Just so you know I have to go down a flight of stairs everyday about twice to put wood on my wood fired furnace or rely on propane to heat my house Wood is free in my case and propane is about 100$ a month, anyway, yesterday I couldn't transfer to my stairglide without help today now I can. I hope tommorrow is better yet. So I have proved to my self now that taking LDN is helping me stay more independent and letting me live out here and not in a retirement home(I am only fifty) I have done this before(stopped taking LDN) but every time I had immediate problems this time I didn't. So maybe there has been some repair go on? It seemed that more slowly I lost a little more mobility. Now I am SPMS so I really have little hope in getting over this but with LDN I do have hope of still being here when / if a cure is found. I hope this helps Reg. -------Original Message------- From: low dose naltrexone Date: 10/19/04 16:34:08 low dose naltrexone Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] colds & flu Dr. B. SNOW?!!? Guest guest
Congratulations Reg on your improvement! I am also SPMS and have much difficulty getting in and out of the tub. We live in a four-level-split house and stairs are everywhere. It would cost us approx. $12,000 to put in chair lifts where needed so we are getting together with a realtor to see about a bungalow. I have started a new dietary supplement that hopefully shows some improvement. The friend who got me on it was in a wheelchair for 1 1/2 yrs (SPMS) and is now walking very " normal " without a cane. Since this disease is very unique to each MSer, I am approaching this with an open mind. The draw back is that it is very expensive. Has anyone on here tried the Raw Food Diet?? Any success stories?? Im 80-90% raw and juicing lots...but just got started this month so it could take time. I tried naltrexone once but had some negative reactions so stopped. Have been reading everyones comments to see if I want to go through the lack of sleep (already sleep very very poorly) but decided it must be worth it. Is it (naltrexone) always a blue color? That concerned me cause I thought maybe it was the dye I reacted to. I am going to try it again and see if the pharmacy with also use the recommended fillers.
