Guest guest
Just seen your recent piccie and you look so much better than > you did before on past pictures, your face looks slimmer as well. Hi Steph thanks hun, glad to see you online:) Hope you are running faster than your puter hehe. Lovely to hear from you again. I thought I would upload as part of my ongoing 'gallery story' of 'getting better', hoping it might encourage some who are just starting out on new treatments too. I was feeling a lot brighter which in itself is a flamin miracle . I actually WENT FOR A WALK yayyyyyy today to the shop without my disability buggy. It wasn't a breeze but I did it and that is the main thing, another flamin miracle . I am always a bit reluctant to get too excited as I have had setbacks before. But the picture will also encourage me if I have a bad week or so. How are you Steph? Getting better I hope? Onwards and upwards to all lotsa luv Dawnx
Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Great that you had " the walk " today, I bet you felt you had been let out if you catch my drift, especialy without your wheels!! Brilliant! Thanks for asking how I'm doing. Short version is nutri thyroid was not working for me (side effects) managed to get T3 from endo, shock!! Made me feel well initialy but bad side effects even on one quarter of a tablet. Dr P advised to change from NAX to nutri adrenal and then up T4 slightly after ten days support. Will be trying that as soon as tablets arrive. Cross everything you are able to cross for me,ha ha! Fell at work last week and now am the owner of spectacular bruising on my shoulder. Very sore!! Could wear a navy jumper with a hole in the top of the sleeve you would'nt be able to tell! Sure we will all get there in the end with help from each other and Dr P and Sheila of course. Guest guest
Thanks Lillian and Steph Woah, and endo trying to make you well with T3 I am a little in shock but good on him:) Such a shame it didn't agree with you, possibly adrenal? I am crossing everything that I have for you that the treatment from Dr P works, in fact it will be a little difficult for me as I will be seeing double all the time in the meantime *wink. I will send you a blue jumper with a hole in the shoulder just to make the best of a bad situation. Serously though hon, ouch, I feel for you that must have been really bad to cause such bad bruising. Arnica darling, good stuff for bruising inside and outside, need to look after that shoulder, such stress is bad. ''Sure we will all get there in the end with help from each other and > Dr P and Sheila of course.'' Amen to that hon. Felt like I had been let out hon yes lol, but not 'free' yet, has someone to be someone there to hang on to occasionally lol. Still a ways to go. But I am going in that free direction lotsa luv and God bless Dawnx > > Hi Dawn, > Great that you had " the walk " today, I bet you felt you had been let > out if you catch my drift, especialy without your wheels!! Guest guest
Your T3 probably didn't work because of the poor state of your adrenals Stephie. Once you get them boosted, you may want to try the T3 again, only start VERY slowly with a very low dose and gradually build this up. Sorry to hear about your fall and your horrible bruising and I hope it is not too painful for you. luv - Sheila Thanks for asking how I'm doing. Guest guest
I am getting very confused as to who is improving and who is not. I thought I read that it was you Dawn who was improving. Now I think it must have been someone else. I am getting so confused. Sorry if I wrote the wrong thing to the wrong person To the person who fell down, I cannot remember how it happened, but when I was at my worst with hypoT I kept falling downstairs for no apparent reason. Lilian I am so pleased for you Dawn - onwards and upwards
Guest guest
Hi Lilian, I'm sorry you had to experience falling downstairs. It's what alerted me to the same problems my DW had. We didn't know at the time but the hypoT causes (too ) low blood pressure on rising from either sitting or lying down. It took several more years before she got a diagnosis, during whch time I worked from a home base doing part-time and temporary work. Back in the old days ladies would faint from corsets drawn too tight; likewise, there would be some who had undetected hypothyroidism. Books written during the 18th & 19th Centuries would have remarked upon the need to 'take the waters' eg Epsom, where Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) was found in the local water supply. Such a popular watering hole, that the almost entire mobile society from London would decamp to Epsom for racing events, and the likes, on the Downs. How usefull to have the the railways. I recall, as kid, crossing the rickety foot bridge over the Thames alongside Waterloo station for access to the 'Festival of Britain' in 1951, and was horrified by the sight of the waters rushing past (the foot-bridge was planks across the decking so that you could see the water through the cracks between the deck ~ scary to a kid ) as the Thames tide flooded in/out. The rail bridge must have been impressive in those early days as one of the 'wonders of the world' just after its completion... It makes you wonder if the local breweries in the Epsom area had the same sort of motivation to use their local supply of water for brewing as did the brewers in Burton-on-Trent (where the magnesium content of the beer makes it possible to drink without the added risk of causing palpitations from the induced low serum magnesium content after consuming several pints of beer. Oliver (the actor) famously died on a binge. The same problem affects those who incautiously use Ecstacy and drink too much tap-water without electrolyte replacements. Hypothyroidism affects the disposition of magnesium as between the cells and the extra-cellular fluid/serum. Diabetes Insipidus can cause similar problems if fluid is replaced without adding in sufficient of the necessary electrolyte mix. .....and for very young children with sickness and diarrhoea, arising from such 'simple' childhood viral/bacterial infections, those risks can be rapidly fatal. A question to your doctor: how does s/he assess magnesium status? best wishes Bob > > I am getting very confused as to who is improving and who is not. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Thanks for the message. I feel proper dopey, I have only just realised that because a tablet will not suit me now does not mean it will not in the future. To think back in March I said the paper test on the system did not show I had adrenal fatigue or at the least only very mild fatigue. I must have been telling lies when I filled it in!! As for the fall, just shows how bad my adrenals are I sat and cried on the garage floor after (lots of chaps to help me, making me laugh despite all) TOOK ME AGES to stop feeling shook up. Luv Stephie > > Your T3 probably didn't work because of the poor state of your adrenals > Stephie. Guest guest
Hi Lilian, It was me Stephie who fell, one minute I was there and the next I was arguing with a gritter and coming off worst. My ankle went over on a ledge in the garage and my shoulder hot the spreader at the back of the vehicle. Luckily it is covered in plastic or it could have been a whole lot worse. It is true what you say about falling though, I can't seem to help it or recover myself from a small trip as I would have been able to before. Keep Well, Luv Stephie > To the person who fell down, I cannot remember how it happened, but when I was at my worst with hypoT I kept falling downstairs for no apparent reason. > > Lilian > > I am so pleased for you Dawn - onwards and upwards >
Guest guest
Dawn, The falls kept happening when I got very bad, just before it was the last straw and I went to see the private doctor who prescribed T3 (6 years ago). I didn't know then that it had anything to do with hypoT. It happened more than once but as it stopped completely when taking the T3 I could only come to the conclusion it was probably all part of the hypo. Guest guest
> Yes it was me who posted a pic hon and Steph said I looked much >better. Hi Dawn, I agree with Steph! What an improvement that latest photo shows. Can't wait for the next one! You're such an inspiration to us all, the way you hang on in there and don't give up, that it will be great to see further improvements captured on film. We'll all be so happy for you. x
Guest guest
''It happened more than once but as it stopped completely when taking the T3 I could only come to the conclusion it was probably all part of the hypo.'' Well it certainly sounds like it with a result like that hon, thank God eh? Please take the T3 hon if it does so much good for you, you cannot be doing with that starting again. Drs bury their mistakes grrrrrr . , thanks hon, its all down to the forum and wonderful friends keeping me going with support, honestly, I don't know where I would be without my online friends, and my family of course who have literally carried me about in the past. Its a funny sight seeing a big 'ol women being carried between two fellas up the main street of Whitby to get her home lol. I have never known such wonderful people, it is a privelege, I haven't found anyone on here that hasn't tried to help. With where to get my pills and helping me, (you know who you are), book lending, advice, motivation and geeing me up when I am low, people who phoned me, someone who got me medical advice, all wonderful. Just must say, Shiela works so hard for us keeping this forum together and researching and campagning, I hope when treatment finally gets better in the NHS Shiela gets famous for her campagning and advice work and all those who have helped her in any way and not abandoned it, that would be awesome. How many years you been working at this Shiela? God bless and lotsa luv n hugs to all Dawnx

Guest guest
hehe Don't worry, I didn't take it badly, it is a fact, I have/had dark circles I didn't think of it as an insult hon honestly lol, don't worry really . I know when I have them that they aren't my fault they are cos I is ill . LOL don't feel bad, I honestly didn't I luv ya too x
Guest guest
Hi Dawn, An Indian lady that I worked with some time back said her doctor had attributed the dark circles under the eyes to low calcium; I wonder if that's it? Cortisol is a steroid and will do (m)any of the things that steroids do. .....and works with vit D too. The receptors for many of the steroids will form dimers etc and will activate the transcription process (for mRNA) as either homodimers (the same receptor types) or as heterodimers (two different receptor types) I'd guess that your vit D level is in the 'pits' just now, and your hydrocortisone is picking up the slack. If that's most of why hydrococrtisone is 'working' for so many people with thyroid problems, then they need to seriously rethink both diagnosis and treatment, starting with the reference ranges for each of the tested hormone/steroid levels ~ and the article Sheila just pointed to (on Cortisol) showing the current 'quick' (flawed?) lab test methods overestimate the steroid level compared to Gas Chromtography, GC/MS, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography etc. As they say 'when you're in hole, stop digging' but the Gods don't work like that, do they? They're current digging us all into the same 'pit' ~ and that's usually reckoned to be a criminal act. Just like withdrawing NHS support for Alzheimers Disease. best wishes Bob I like the 'new look' piccy too > > hehe Don't worry, I didn't take it badly, it is a fact, I have/had > dark circles I didn't think of it as an insult hon honestly lol, don't > worry really . Guest guest
Hi Bob,Dawn This is very true, it happened to me when my thyroxine dose was cut and my calcium levels dropped too. Guest guest
Hiya Bob hon I have been taking osteocare for a while but they aren't overly strong but daren't go too mad lol. I also started taking vit D3 before I started on armour, I was told by a private doc who I emailed to take 4000ug a day but I have only been taking 1000. Maybe I am too cautious with it for my own good? Someone else emailed me a couple of weeks ago strangely enough and said I may be calcium deficient because of my hip problem, I wasn't sure what to think. I never knew it caused dark circles, thanks for letting me know that Bob hon. I wonder if I should be taking 2 osteocare a day and 4000 D now hmmm what to do. I am too darn cowardly to take the LIST of tests I need to the doc nowadays. I hate being cowardly, but this is how I have become nowadays. lotsa luv and cheers Dawnx
