Guest guest
I have posted about this elsewhere but nobody seems to have a clue. I just wanna dive into a vat of bread and donuts I am sorry I cannot help you but I just wanted to say I feel the same way. I am not on anything but I have rotton low blood sugar problems all the time. I don't know that it is any worse on hc, hc seems to hold the glucose up for me a little. lotsa luv Dawn
Guest guest
I find glutamine and chromium invaluable Dawn AND eating a protein- based meal or snack every three hours or so. Does the business. Mo > I have posted about this elsewhere but nobody seems to have a clue. Guest guest
Dawn Do you actually have low blood sugar or just the symptoms of low blood sugar? Maybe getting a blood sugar testing kit will show you better if you actually do have low blood sugar or not, they are very easy to use and quite helpful in letting you see how what you eat affects you and when you need to eat. I used to get symptoms of low blood sugar without actually having low blood sugar if this makes sense! HC does raise blood sugar, I found this out but it can also stabalise people with low blood sugar I have posted about this elsewhere but nobody seems to have a clue. Guest guest
Hi Mand Been doing some reading and it appears that metformin is not supposed to be taken with steroids as it can cause high blood sugar. This explains my symptoms. So I have had to choose between taking HC or taking metformin. I feel like I have no choice at this point in time but to stop the metformin. I have also read that untreated hypothyroid can cause insulin resistance and PCOS. So fingers crossed that with thyroid treatment I will be okay. > > - > > > > Hi Lyne, > > Ive just found out I have pcos aswell, they said they want to check > me for insulin resistance and diabetes..so may be in the same boat as > you soon i think.. > > I dont really understand, I do low carb but I am pretty slim anyway > but if I eat carbs i can put on weight quite quickly...I ve had no > periods either but I havent got oily skin, spots etc..I wish i did > hav oily skin mine is dry, dehydrated with no mositure at all ..but i > suppose tahts the thyroid... > > I am confused aswell hun, ive just started armour so dont know what > will happen if i have to start take metaformin..I'll keep you posted.. > > Mandx >
Guest guest
Hi Shiela Yes thanks, I will do the adrenal questionairre. My saliva test did say overall low output of cortisol when I took it. I have no idea who I would see, I am seeing my GP next week but even he won't be able to do any adrenal testing now even if he would have offered, which he wouldn't as he never has because I have been taking the hc and wouldn't dare come off it whilst on TH and if I come off TH I am afraid of going into that state of being unable to move my diaphram enough to breathe properly again. I am a little lost. I have ordered a glucose meter to see how hypogly I actually am which might help if I have readings when I see the doctor. Although he is more likely to treat that than any underlying condition if I have it. I am at a loss who to see. I am too ill to get out far enough to see Dr P. I am taking the cortisol which should be sorting out my adrenal fatigue. I could go curl up in bed and see what happens over time lol. One of the reasons docs ignore the adrenal thing with me is my high bp. I will post the results of the adrenal questionairre. Thanks for helping x

Guest guest
Hi Dawn I am glad you are getting a glucose machine, it will show you in actual figures just what your blood sugar is like, do you know how to read one? I mean do you know what would be considered a high or low reading, if not just shout and i can help. I think the problem with a lot of us is that we never knew about adrenals when we first became hypoT and we werent aware of treating them BEFORE starting thyroid meds, its not our fault, some of us have been on thyroid meds for years with poor adrenal function and no explanation as to why we werent feeling much better on the thyroid meds, all those years for some people have caused damage that takes a while to reverse, I am thankful that I only had 2 yrs on thyroxine before finding out about the adrenal conection and at least now we are putting it right, I am so hoping armour is the final piece in my jigsaw, if not I dont know what else to do............. Take care Dawn Hi ShielaYes thanks, I will do the adrenal questionairre. My saliva test didsay overall low output of cortisol when I took it. PLEASE WILL YOU CHECK YOU HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE CLICKING 'SEND'AND LEAVE A SMALL PORTION OF WHAT YOU ARE RESPONDING TO. THANKS - SHEILA __________________________________________________________ Hi Lynn, Really, I am not suprised!! Its awful the way they put you through all this isnt it..big hug..I am frustrated with it aswell.. Well, 10 years ago Ihad a massive cyst on my ovary which they removed but didn think at the time to ask why i had it. Then last year I was so depressed with being ill and sticking to a ridiculous diet as i felt better for it. Where I was depressed i came iff the diet and was eating loads of chocolate and stuff (was ever so ill) I asked for a scanof my ovaries and they said i had pcos!! I went to the gyne and he just said come back when you wan to get pregnant!! Then a few months back I had a cyst hemorage and went in hospital and they said not to worry was only a tiny one and no more cysts I dont have pcos!! (I had been back on low carb then so i do think the diet I kept trying to do was controlling the insulin resistance and was clearing the cysts!! I have tried to do no carb no sugar the last few days and had really bad pains felt like a cyst again I think when you restrict carbs and sugar it brings down the insulin connection and the cysts must burst or something!! So, When they said at london I had pcos and i need insulin resistance testing and diabetic testing..I think if I hadnt of been on this diet on and off I would probably have diabetes by now!!! My doctor hasnt (private doctor) hasnt put me on HC he has put me on DHEA for my adrenals but now I have this new news about IR and pcos I dont know if he will change my medication..not sure yet.. If I was you I would come off the metiformin but try and do a very low carb low GI diet..I can help you with the diet if you need a hand. That way you can stabilise your blood sugar whilst using the HC. I found the best diet is no carbs apart from some lentils and beans like chick peas etc and there are even certain veg that you need to avoid like Carrotts and sweetcorn oh and parsnips and beetroot..Ive got the diet plan written up I'll dig it out for you.. I also think that all of us with the candida are probably struggling with it more due to the high blood sugar/insulin resistance I would think the candida love that environment..i dont know just a hunch.. Good luck with it mate if my private doctor gives me any more advice now i know about the IR and pcos I'll PM you.. We will get through this !! Big hug Mand xx So I have had to choose between taking HC or > taking metformin. I feel like I have no choice at this point in time > but to stop the metformin. Guest guest
Hello, As Ive just mentioned ive just found out i have pcos and Insulin resistance and i suffer from low blood sugar.. When i first went on teh candida diet I was eating lots of rice cakes as they were easy to just grab..after an hour of eating them I would get bad hypoglycemia shaking, dizzy, sweating feel like i need to eat a load of sugar.. Having worked within the fitness industry and studying diets etc I started to look at the diet I was eating and rice cakes are very high GI they affect blood sugar which is why i was getting hypoglycemia.. Ive now switched to low gi and low carbs and it really helps the hypoglycemia.. Hi GI foods : Potatoes, white rice, white bread, certain veggies etc.. INstead you are best with lowest GI which is : sweet potatoe, new potatoes, bassmatti rice, chick peas, whole grain bread (not wholemeal).. I have found that if I stick to very low GI and low carbs I am not so constipated either.. I am not saying its easy as I am trying to do a low carb, low GI, candida diet..but its worth it and will help you if you come off the metiformin.. I'll find the link to the diet it may help others on here as well.. Hugs Mandyxx > > Dawn > Do you actually have low blood sugar or just the symptoms of low blood sugar? > Maybe getting a blood sugar testing kit will show you better if you actually do have low blood sugar or not, they are very easy to use and quite helpful in letting you see how what you eat affects you and when you need to eat. I used to get symptoms of low blood sugar without actually having low blood sugar if this makes sense! Guest guest
Hi again Blimey my old aches and pains are back as strong as they ever were I had been enjoying a holiday from them for a few weeks. Anyway here we go, I managed to open the doc. this morning and my score was Severity 2.5 so I would say that is a big YES on the adrenal fatigue score. The addisons didn't seem to compute completely though as I only scored 6 on the asterix questions, thank God. Without a printer that is a real difficult thing to fill out and keep track of lol. So, I will be definately needing the hc with a score like that eh? , thanks for the offer of interpretation I will be taking you up on that as I have no idea how to interpret those glucose meter things and was sort of hoping it would all be included in the package, maybe not tho. That was very interesting, thanks lotsa luv Dawnx
