Hello Everyone,

This morning I put my tablets on the table & went to get a glass of

water. I was only gone a minute & returned to find my cat with my

Armour tablet in its mouth!!! Luckily she dropped it & I was able to

rescue it. I dont know if its got something that attracts all cats or

just my crazy cat but thought I'd better warn you!!

Best wishes

Well as Armour is made from pigs thyroid and is not synthetic, no wonder it is attractive to cats. I should think dogs and other animals are also vulnerable to the smell and taste.

They probably think it is a nice piece of pork ;)

Hi

- you are not the first to warn about animals attraction to Armour Thyroid

- one animal smelling out another animal. I wonder if you would have had a very

happy cat had she eaten it?

I think I would have had a rather delirious cat. Nothing's sacred

not even my tablets!!!

Hi,

Me too, I have a push and shove with

my kitten every morning as he wants my Armour as I tip the pills out into my

hand- the other three cats aren’t so interested and behave themselves.

Cats are carnivores so that’s the attraction. He’s now patting the

screen as I type!

There's a slightly more worrying problem I have with my elderly cat

and tablets -

He's hyperthyroid and he's already had one of his thyroids out (cats

have tow - aren't they lucky?!) and his second thyroid has gone

'hyper' too, so we have to treat him with a tablet that slows his

thyroid. The little monkey won't eat a whole tablet, so we have to

crush it and I discovered (when I gave it to him for 6 weeks in Spring

this year) that I can't give him his tablet because I become more

'hypo'. :-S

Hyperthyroid is very common in elderly cats. There are information

leaflets in the meds packets that say you should wear gloves...etc.,

but even so, I thought you should all be aware of the potential problem.

Sue :-)
