Guest guest
My daughter did the 1.5 mg for 30 days, then the 3.0 mg for 30 days and is now on the 4.5 mg forever. The capsules are really little and are different colored. Edna At 09:24 PM 10/21/2004 +0000, you wrote: >Hi all, I just joined this group & this is my first post. Guest guest
I started on 3.0 MG from day one and took only 3.0 MG for my first 300 days, then I tried 4.5 for 38 days and realized 3.0 was my proper dose. Personally, I don't think anyone really needs 1.5, but what do I know. Maybe for a few days IF they think they MAY be ALLERGIC and just want to make sure they're not. It may even be the reason why some people have problems, they're taking a teaserly ineffective dose. But that does seem to be what some people are doing, 30 days 1.5, 30 days 3.0, then to 4.5. Many drop back to 3.0. People seem to make up their own rules as they go along. The idea of the 1.5 MG caps was ONLY so one could take either TWO of them for 3.0 MG or THREE of them for 4.5 MG. If you find 4.5 best, then you should get 4.5 caps next refill, or 3.0 MG or just keep taking 2 or 3 1.5's. If you're going the mail delivery route, I think the best script is for 1.5 X 3/day X60 days which gives you 180 pills. At 4.5 it'll last 2 months, at 3.0 it'll last 3 months, and you can decide on 3.0 OR 4.5 JMHO, but I think doing 1.5, since it's below the presumed effective dose level (1.75) may actually not be beneficial at all. Seems like a lot of people who are having problems either started with 1.5 for a while, or are currently doing 1.5 Not sure how many people who start with 3.0 or 4.5 are having problems by comparison. ----- Original Message ----- From: cindy22701 low dose naltrexone Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2004 17:24 Subject: [low dose naltrexone] 1.5 mg for 30 days??? Guest guest
I am currently taking 1.5 because 3.0 became intolerable. The stiffness had become extreme, and I was also quite depressed. At 1.5 I still have the improved bladder control and improved sense of touch as well as increased strength in my hands and legs. If I take no LDN, by the morning after the second missed dose I begin to lose sensation in my feet and become weaker. So, for me at least, 1.5 is doing SOMETHING. Until I can move back to 3.0 I will have to stay at the lower dose. I have no idea why 3.0 has become so miserable after so many months, but if it were a choice between 3.0 and none I would have to quit taking it because that dosage currently destroys my quality of life to the point that the idea of stopping the progression is no longer valuable enough to make today useless. The higher doses, 4.5 and 6.0 are even worse. Interesting to note that during Dr Furhmann's ruckus here I tried one daytime dosage of 24 mg and felt really really good, although I was very tired that evening. I have no idea what that means... Guest guest
Relief of symptoms is great, but of course I am as interested in stopping the progression as anyone here. I plan to get back to 3.0 eventually, when whatever is making me oversensitive is resolved. With the depression that comes with 3.0 it seems like my body is not clearing out the naltrexone as quickly as it should. I wonder if my liver is not doing as well as it should... I suppose I could go transdermal for a while and see how that works out. I'll keep y'all posted... ----- Original Message ----- From: LarryGC low dose naltrexone Sent: Friday, October 22, 2004 8:00 AM Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] 1.5 mg for 30 days??? Interesting. Guest guest
time for annual blood work to check where you're at? Seems like a great majority seem to have relief from depression, not more of it. Are you also taking other meds? ----- Original Message ----- From: low dose naltrexone Sent: Friday, October 22, 2004 10:44 Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] 1.5 mg for 30 days??? Guest guest
Originally relief from depression was one of the stronger effects, and no, I don't take other meds. Maybe hormonal ups and downs, I'm close to 50... ----- Original Message ----- From: LarryGC low dose naltrexone Sent: Friday, October 22, 2004 8:48 AM Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] 1.5 mg for 30 days??? time for annual blood work to check where you're at? Guest guest
Hey , You're right, it's not the common protocol, If anything most of us will give 3mg a try for a while before attempting 4.5mg. You're very lucky that your neurologist wrote you a script so quickly! Best of luck on your ldn journey. -----Original Message----- From: cindy22701 [mailto:ccheatm@...] Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2004 5:25 PM low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] 1.5 mg for 30 days??? Hi all, I just joined this group & this is my first post. I have just been diagnosed with MS & my neurologist said he would let me try LDN if I give him info about it (had never heard of it). I've given him all of the info from the lowdosenaltrexine.org site. This afternoon I called Skip's Pharmacy & talked to one of the pharmacists about getting Rx filled. He told me the protocol was 1.5 mg for 30 days, then 3 mg for 30 days, then 4.5 mg for maintenance. This doesn't seem to jive with all of the other posts I've been reading here. I think I should have my neurologist talk to Dr. Skip directly to write the Rx. Has anyone heard of this protocol? Guest guest
Hi , Good for you that you found a neurologist willing to consider LDN! I'm also new to the group and to LDN and it seems that most start of on 3.0 mg. I did as well but after three weeks I began having negative reactions that is an exaggeration of my symptons so my doctor is putting me onto 1.5mg for a month to see how I react and then I will increase to 3.0mg if all goes well and then to 4.5mg. Maybe my body just needs to get used to LDN. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I am not normally sensitive to products. Actually it may be a good idea to start on a low dose and work up but I'm not in a position to say. I wish you all the best.
