Hi

Val is quite right.

Where is the point of paying to see a Specialist Thyroid Doctor who

wont put his diagnosis and treatment in writing for GP follow up. It

should happen automatically, therefore you must ask for your own

peace of mind.

plan " with your HC?  This would bring your GP on board with what

you are doing.  My GP does not understand hc but is happy to have a

treatment plan from whoever is treating me & will then actually

prescribe the hc for me.

- do you know this? It should help all your worries.

consultation with Dr. P. It includes not only writing to your GP

(if you want) but a couple of telephone follow ups as well.

Then ask him again to do it then , you've paid for the diagnosis.

said it wasnt necessary but would actually think it would be good if

he did. he could probably say things better than I can and I feel

reluctant to tell my gp what I am doing

Hi ,

Are you describing vertigo?

That may be hearing associated and too much caffeine may have an impact

on it.

best wishes

Hi ,

My GP referred me to an Endo at Pilgrim Hosp, I waited and waited for

my appointment but none came, next time I went to see my GP I

mentioned I still hadn't had an appointment. He looked on his computer

and he had received a reply saying they didn't want to see me as my GP

could do exactly the same as he would. Check to make sure this hasn't

happened to you. So I've still never seen an Endo in the 4 years I

been HypoT

Regarding the dizziness you have had, I have had several sorts over

tha past 2 years:

1 where I could not stand alone, I had to lean, or if out in the

open, sit on the ground so I didn't fall down.

2 where I felt outside my head - (on the left, a bit up and a bit

behind), quite disconnected from the world. Didn't think I would fall

over with this, but it would last quite a long time, but not usually

all day.

3 after a lot of travelling this summer, where I had dizziness but kn

ew I would not fall over, this lasted for two or three weeks, became

intermittent and has now stopped.

I suspect yours is more like my type 2? If so, this stopped with

increasing thyroxine.

I have just had my last increase in thyroxine under Dr S so am

waiting to see how that affects me. I am due to see him again in Oct.

I like feeling " back in my head " again, and I hope your issues clear

as your dose increases again.

but didnt think I could take it any other way

>Sorry I thought I answered this, I might not be able to do it

if I were on a much bigger dose, it tastes disgusting. I just do it at

the mo as I don't believe my digestive system could handle it. I would

probably have to take double if I were doing it the swallow way.

lotsa luv and God bless

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi ,

Though it may be unintelligible, it's still relevant for all who read this post:

http://dx.doi.org/10.1210/en.2007-0567

short title given as: -Thyroid hormone and cerebellar interneurons

[[....GABA is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter, regulating excitatory glutamatergic activity; during development GABA may act as an excitatory transmitter and also as a trophic factor involved in developmental processes, such as cell proliferation, migration and synaptogenesis (8, 9). It has been suggested that disorders of GABAergic neurotransmission, such as anxiety, are central in the psychiatric manifestations of thyroid dysfunction (6).....]]

this extract from a paper published last August 2007.

best wishes

Bob

PS it usually takes about ten years (+/-) before the doctors will see this work.

>> I can confirm that, I have rang Dr P 4 times now and only one was a pre booked appointment, I dont think after 3 phone calls he would leave his patients out on a limb and not talk to them>
