Guest guest
Hi Toria The problem with the test to check the state of your adrenals within the NHS is that it ONLY tests to see whether you are suffering with the most severe form of low adrenal reserve - 's disease. The test recognises no other shade of grey between severely compromised adrenals and very healthy adrenals. They will either do a blood test which is done at only one time during the day (usually first thing in a morning) and then they give you an injection of synacthen, and after a while, take another blood test - problem is that synacthen would make even a dead donkey kick and many people who have had this adrenal function test actually feel pretty wonderful for that day and sometimes the following day because their cortisol has had such a boost. If you do not have 's, it is a waste of time and money. You will find the real facts through the 24 hour adrenal salivary profile. Telephone them at Genova Diagnostics and get your answer from the horses mouth as to how long you should be off Hydrocortisone before getting the test done through the NHS. www.gdx.uk.com Luv - Sheila Wow - thanks Val. Every doctor I see about everything else (lyme, coinfections, dysautonomia etc etc) is freaking out about the HC I'm taking and wanting me to do a blood test for it - including Dr S. . . . even though my temperature is all over the place. I've made an appointment to see Dr P at the end of Feb because I'm so fed up with being " questioned " on this and I'd like to look into the other hormones too which no other doctor will talk to me about. In despair . . . BW Toria _,___
