Guest guest
Hi all, Sorry I haven't been on the forum for the past few days. My last post was to say that I had been suffering from extreme dizziness, nausea, palpitations etc etc...I think perhaps I had a bug after all. I didn't go to the hospital as was suggested..though to be honest, if I didn't have any children or had another adult to take care of them I probably would have done. Last time I was taken in immediately and spent 8 wasted days as they basically said there was nothing wrong because my bloods were ok...despite the fact I was unable to lift my arm never mind walk. I am finding it a real long slog trying to feel at all better though I do think I am on the right track. I think the main problem for me is my adrenals...I am taking 2 NAX and 2 NA daily with one grain Westhroid as well as the usual array of vits and minerals. I don't feel as though my adrenals will ever be 'well'! I know some people take lots of NAX but any more than my present dose and I know I will be sick...and that is what Dr. P. prescribed anyway. My temps are still low at an average of mid 35's - though it did rise at the weekend which makes me feel that a bug was the cause of my extreme symptoms. I am still very tired...too tired to do more than sleep really though I have managed a few things like a short shopping trip and taking my kids to their drama class. However, I couldn't possibly work, can't take care of the house and kids and wonder when I will ever have any semblance of normal life again. Anyway, the slightest noise, a raised voice - even the doorbell ringing sets my heart racing...and I am totally exhausted afterwards. Is there something else I should be doing? Any and all suggestions welcome.... ....Except going back to my GP as I am hoping to change when I get the energy to go to the new surgery! Dr. P. did mention the possibility of needing T3...I'm afraid at the time I was unable to take it all in and wondered if anyone could explain what this would be for ....is it a T4/T3 conversion issue? And now I realise I have been prattling on...sorry. x
Guest guest
Hi From what you are suffering it does appear that your adrenals are not getting the right boost they need from just taking NAX and NA. It sounds as if you need something stronger, either Isocort or HC itself. Can you telephone Dr P and explain to him what is happening, and get his recommendation because you cannot carry on in this way. You obviously have a lot of stresses around you and feeling so awful is only to cause you even more stress and this is all putting a terrible strain on your already weak adrenals. I really think you need to go for it and as soon as possible. The longer you leave things to sort themselves out, the more ill you are going to become because this is not going to sort itself out on its own. Some people are absolutely unable to convert the inactive T4 into T3. You need T3 to get into every cell to make your body and brain function. If you are one who has a conversion problem, yes, you will need synthetic T3, either as a combination with T4 or in the natural thyroid extract Armour. Whatever you decide eventually , please do telephone Dr Peatfield. as he is one of our medical advisers. luv - Sheila ....Except going back to my GP as I am hoping to change when I get the energy to go to the new surgery! Guest guest
Hi I'm not familiar with the background to your adrenal/thyroid probs, but I wanted to make a suggestion which might make you feel a bit better in the shorter term. I was having adrenal type problems once I got to 2 grain of Armour, feeling quite jumpy nauseous jittery etc etc. This was despite having elevated cortisol levels on my salivary tests. I had resorted to taking prednisilone every other day to minimise this, even though this was against advice. I started taking my armour at night recently, as many people have, and found that my adrenal type stymptoms went (or at least until I bacame under major stress this week). Also with the added bonus of deep refreshing sleep every night...and most people seem to report feeling well on less meds than before... I wonder if trying taking the westthroid (I think this is virtually the same as armour) at night for a week may help? If it does you can continue that way, if not you haven'y lost much! Worth thinking about... Leah x > > I am finding it a real long slog trying to feel at all better though > I do think I am on the right track. Worth thinking about... > > Leah x > > Hi Leah, I appreciate your writing to me...and yes, I do believe that taking the natural dessicated thyroid at night will help. I recently had the pleasure of attending a lecture given by Dr. T (one of the TPA UK advisors) while he was on a recent tour of the UK and he said that he wouldn't be surprised if in future years it would be recommended that it was taken at night. (after studies are done of course) I do think though that my adrenal problems are deep rooted after a fairly stressful life (I'm thinking of writing a book when I am well...truth is indeed stranger than fiction) and expect that some HC treatment may be recommended by Dr. P when I speak with him. However, the night time dosing is just another thing that could help...and it won't do any harm if it doesn't! x

Both are dessicated pork glands, even from the same supplier, but Westthroid has a cellulose filler, rather than a grain. Chuck
Guest guest
Hi Chuck, Have you seen any reports of a bad experience from using Westhroid due to the cellulose filler, also if you know, what difference would a cellulose filler make ??? I know its cheaper to buy than Armour. jennyfreeman > > Both are dessicated pork glands, even from the same supplier, but > Westthroid has a cellulose filler, rather than a grain. > > Chuck >
Guest guest
I think the best one is Nature Throid, which is hypo-allergenic. Armour, Westhroid and nature Throid are from the same supplier but not the same manufacturer. No, but that is not something I would expect to notice. > ...also if you know, what > difference would a cellulose filler make ??? It might help if you were sensitive to something in Armour.
