Guest guest
Ann - did you get the article in the files about Home Testing for adrenals. These cost nothing, and did you do the Adrenal Questionnaire to see how you score. Sorry I can't remember everything as we have so many members, and I need constantly reminding. If you didn't, I would advise you do this questionnaire. Read also the details on our website www.tpa-uk.org.uk under 'Hypothyroidism' and then click on 'Associated Conditions' and then click on 'Adrenals' and read everything there. I believe we have the questionnaire on this web site too. You need to be tested 9and your Mum and sister too if they have not already) to see if you have Hashimoto's disease - this is done by testing to see if you have antibodies to your thyroid. You can buy nutri adrenal extra from www.yournutritionshop.com Luv - Sheila Hi everyone, I have decided to purchase Armour Thyroid from the International Pharmacy because I do not really think I can wait ages to see a consultant to sort this problem out, also the cost of going to see a specialist is also a factor. If other members are doing this I would be grateful for any advice. Also I think Sheila said that it might be wise to go on adrenal support before going on the thyroid tablets, where do I get this, I couldn't get the document up in the 'files' on the web site, does anyone know anything about this also? It all seems alot of faffing about going to my G.P. for a referral to then see a specialist and yesterday I felt so ill I just want to get this sorted out a.s.a.p. I have also read other web sites in the U.S.A. where people are taking Armour themselves and they seem alright, also I noted that in the U.S. they get help alot quicker when their blood tests read alot lower on the range than we do and alot of people are saying they got their lives back to normal, they lost all the weight and got their energy back, this is great for people in the U.S. but what on earth is happening in this country with doctors not doing this, I can't work it out why the doctors are trained in this country not to help people with thyroid problems I thought we got alot of our information from the U.S. but why aren't docs in this country taking the advice from the U.S.? Does anyone know why this is happening? After reading stuff on the internet and also this web site I think I would rather go on the natural thyroid tablets from the pig variety. Also I would like to add that my mother and sister also have an underactive thyroid problem, my mother was diagnosed with this about seven years ago and my sister about five years ago, they both are on thyroxin from the doc. It seems to run in our family, also my grandmother was extremely overweight all her life but never diagnosed with a thyroid problem, but at least she lived to 89, although she did die of a heart attack, she probably needed thyroid treatment too, it seems to run on my mothers side of the family. I am about three stone overweight and this has got worse over the last two years as other symptoms have progressed, ie. extreme tiredness, lack of energy, weight gain, more depressed, wanting to sleep alot of the time, hair has got thinner etc. I still can't believe I sat in one of the doctors offices a couple of weeks ago and practically begged him to help me I felt so ill, and he just said 'have I seen a psychiatrist', also when I went for a private blood test, the G.P. said that she couldn't treat me with thyroxin because my antibodies were not high enough even though my other blood test reading was over the range and I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism and it runs in our family, she said I needed anti-depressants and she thought I had fibromalgia! Anyway I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks Ann.
Guest guest
Hi Ann I have been on thyroxine for 2 yrs and like you have ordered some armour thyroid from the US and will be starting it when it arrives. I have never felt 100% well on thyroxine and I want to see what armour will do for me, it is a far superior treatment and contains all the thyroid hormones that we need unlike thyroxine which is only T4, we need T3 so much more and if we dont convert well then we will never be 100% well. My T3 reading as always been bottom of the range so I wonder if thats why I havent regained full health. I have been treating my adrenals with HC for 4 months and I take Vit C, selenium and a high potency B vit complex. If you look in the files you will see how to use armour thyroid and that is what I will be following, good luck with it, if we wait for the NHS to get up to date with thyroid treatments we will be waiting for the rest of our lives, a lot of people here and in the US have to self treat Hi everyone, I have decided to purchase Armour Thyroid from theInternational Pharmacy because I do not really think I can wait agesto see a consultant to sort this problem out, also the cost of goingto see a specialist is also a factor. Guest guest
Possibly Anne, Consider really doing some reading up before leaping into self treating. Especially around the associated conditions. It would be a shame to go to all that trouble without regaining your health. Might just add to your feeling of disappointment. Each of us is very different, some common things apply, others don't. I experimented with Armour for three months, went ok for a while, then started to go downhill again. Problem being, adrenal function the bigger issue. Need to do more work in that area still. Just a thought, of course you know what's best for you.
