Guest guest
Has anyone used iodine in saline drops successfully for pink eye? My cat, Bounder is just getting over a nasty eye infection. His eye was quite swollen with large amount of goupy white discharge. I used some rx eye drops that I had on hand rather than going to the vets. They generally dispense polysporin eye ointment that has rarely cleared any bad eye infections up. With four cats, I had my share of eye infections to deal with. I always need to go back for amoxicillin liquid. When it's all said and done, it's usually $80 and three weeks of misery for the poor animal. The vets are quite apathetic and usually respond, oh it can take a few weeks. Whenever I get an eye infection, my doctor tells me that if it doesn't start looking better in a few days to come back. My drops took care of it but I'd rather find something natural that will work as well. I can't always count on having antibacterial eye drops on hand. I had them this time, because I had conjunctivitis this summer. I tried the detoxified iodine in saline on my eyes this summer but it didn't seem to be effective. I don't know if I didn't use enough iodine or just didn't give it enough time to work. I used it for a couple of days before going to the clinic to get a prescription. Should I have used lugols instead? Lorie
