Guest guest
Hi all Can someone clarify some points for me regarding basal body temps. Dr Ps book mentions that in pre-menopausal women, the best time to take BBTs is days 2-5 of your cycle. He also says that temps vary throughout the cycle due to hormonal fluctuations. Can someone tell me exactly what those fluctuations are? In other words, at what stage of the cycle are BBTs usually lower and what stage are they higher? I'm trying to figure out if a sudden temp dip the last 2 days is because of hormone fluctuations or whether they;re an indication of more adrenal issues. thanks, Marie

It stays elevated at this temp for about a week or so, and then decreases back down to be at the lowest BBT as the menstrual bleed starts again (unless you are pregnant, in which case your temp doesn't decrease ) I guess the place to look is any of the numerous sites for using BBT for determining ovulation eg: http://www.babycenter.com/0_sample-basal-body-temperature-cervical-mucus- chart_7252.bc Hope that helps.
