Guest guest
I had one neurologist tell me that in school they suggested using Mercedes keys for this test... I told him I would at least prefer an older key with more rounded edges. Perhaps it's my rubbing technique.Martha -------------------------------- ----------------------------------------
Guest guest
Or any like object, in the hands of someone else. Not really a DIY, like aegis says. The point of the Mercedes key was simply to impress the patient with the doctor's wealth. In my world a Ford Escape key is more appropriate, but I'm sure there are other models equally effective. The results WILL be wrong, if you are primed about the way the toes should curl, and you certainly dont need a Mercedes key to do it, for the Ford Neon key works as well.A > > > --------------------------------> ----------------------------------------> >
Guest guest
I have been on LDN for exactly two weeks now and have felt fairly good. However, when I got up this morning, I had a lot of stiffness in my legs. Is that one of the side effects of using LDN because I didn't see anything listed on the site? Are there any other side effects I should look for as I keep taking this? I've had MS for 27 years and I absolutely feel the Grace of God surround me because I am still walking, talking, writing, etc. If I had taken the advice of all those neurologists, I'd be in a wheelchair, bedridden, or dead. Thank yu to the Internet and this site which gave me an alternative to the CARBs. Vickie Well, i've always known about that toe thingy test, and my big toe always shoots straight up, believe me, you dont need to do much to stimulate it to do that these days - im too far gone, lol... actually, when i stand to transfer? the big toe on my left foot not only sticks up, it shakes, rattles and rolls into its own dance routine. Puts a new spin on DIY... no problems at all getting that reaction from my toe. Yepppaaaa, gotta make light of these little situations..at least it impresses my niece somewhat... Where aegis is concerned? waaaay off on this one. Friday
Guest guest
Vickie, the stiffness is pretty common. For many people it goes away after a while, sometimes several months. For me, it just stays and sometimes makes me crazy. You might try changing your dose, either up or down, depending on what you are taking. At 1.5 I have little stiffness, at 3.0 quite a bit, and 4.5 is impossible. Some people do better at 4.5 than 3. It is very very individual. There is a continuing concern that 1.5 is not enough to prevent progression but I do still have the improvements in bladder control, strength, etc at that dose, so that's where I am for now. Guest guest
Thanks JT, I think I will stay at the 4.5 mg. If stiffness is my only complaint, then I can live with that, Being able to walk straight without looking like a drunk is one goal. VCL Vickie, the stiffness is pretty common. Guest guest
Hang in there, maybe your stiffness will go away after a while. That has been true for quite a few people. ----- Original Message ----- From: manchester_terrier@... low dose naltrexone Sent: Saturday, October 30, 2004 12:48 PM Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] Re: Babinski and the wayward toes Thanks JT,I think I will stay at the 4.5 mg. Guest guest
Yes, this is the first time I have had this kind of stiffness in the morning. As I've read the board, I see others reporting stiffness. I used it for about 2 months on a VERY low dose and had the same effect. After pausing to reconsider, the stiffness is mild.
