Guest guest
HI Mike Be assured that short term memory and brain fog can be caused through a lack of thyroid hormones - especially the active hormone T3. When I started on Armour (after being on levothyroxine alone with symptoms getting worse) the first thing that came back to me was my brain. That was a wonderful day - so be assured, this will probably happen to you too. luv - Sheila Hi Folks, Can anyone please re-assure me that my memory will improve assuming I am diagnosed with either an adrenal or thyroid problem and am given some form of treatment. I now have the concentration of a gnat, and things don't seem to stay in my head any more :-( All the best. Mike

Guest guest
Hi Mike, I got to the point where I thought I needed to be assessed for early onset dementia. My concentration, clarity of thought and memory were THAT bad! It was a real concern to me. Like others have said, the improvements can take a while. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease and Hypothyroidism in early 2007 and I've only really noticed a difference to my clarity of thought over the last couple of months (discounting a recent, rather nasty 2 week recovery period after I accidentally ingested gluten). I can't say exactly what made the difference as I'm taking a number of different supplements, however I have noticed a distinct improvement in my cognitive function after I started seeing a naturopath who introduced a number of herbs into my regime. It isn't all great yet because my memory still isn't fantastic & I still have problems with simple arithmetic (this was never a problem before), but my clarity of thought has improved enormously. Over the weekend, I was actually able to assist my partner with a scientific report that he was writing. That would have been unheard of three months ago because I wouldn't have understood a word of it! This is despite the fact that I used to help write scientific reports in my previous workplace! So, don't lose heart. Lots of us on this forum have experienced difficulties with memory/concentration/clarity/comprehension. Just take comfort in knowing that improvements can happen.
