Guest guest
I have been on armour (3grain) for the last six years and felt wonderful. However, about 6 months ago I started to feel not so good. I felt depressed, my get up and go had gone, I felt the world was against me, low libido, dry cracked heels, dry skin, cold, susceptible to colds, rash on my face, etc. I had a TFT this week and my T4 is 17, TSH is 0.5 and my T3 is 12. I know I feel good when T4 is around 20. However, my GP has told me I am overdosing as my T3 is elevated. I have cleared this with Dr P who says that this can be expected when on armour. Now that I have gone through the menopause (18 months ago) I am wondering whether I should, perhaps, add some T4 (thyroxine) to supplement the armour. I seem to remember reading on this site that Sheila found this was the answer. I am reluctant to increase my armour as my T3 is already high. My GP won't prescribe even a small amount of thyroxine as he says it could be dangerous! He has never heard of armour, by the way. He has referred me to an endo in Watford. I don't hold out much hope but he wants her opinion before trialing me on a small dose. Would the T4 just raise my levels in my blood to take me up to say, 20 or would it concvert into more T3? I have given him this website to look at!!! Any advice would be appreciated. Chris
