When

increasing your T3, do it the same way as recommended with Armour and take it

in split doses, either twice or three times daily. Always remember to take it

about an hour (if possible) away from taking food.

Hi Sheila,

Dr P has set me on a course where I am to just take 12.5 T3 in am to

satrt then next week (can't wait!!!) I have to add in another 12.5.

I can't raise my Armour - it appears I cannot tolerate more than 1

1/2 grains - Dr P thinks my conversion is up the swannie!

BTW when I do introduce my 2nd dose what time is best? I can't

remember what he said? Doh.

Not

really - we usually recommend another dose early afternoon because after about

8 hours, you certainly can feel your T3 decreasing - often you start feeling

the need for a nap in the afternoon or suddenly becoming very tired. Splitting

the dose keeps you going throughout the day, though some people appear to

manage fine taking it all in the morning. T3 has a very short half life compared

with T4.

Does it not matter what time the 2nd dose is then? As

long as it's

not with food?

Hi Sheila,

I think I must have got the wrong end of the stick. I have been taking H.C. and T3 with food!

Is it just the H.C with food then and the T3 on an empty stomach?

I'll get this right eventually.

Hi

Sioban

Yes,

you have got the wrong end of the stick. Take T3 early in the morning before

breakfast and in the middle of the afternoon, an hour or so after your lunch

and take your HC with your meals. You could try taking T3 when you go to bed -

sounds crazy, but it is working for some folk. I take my Armour when I go to

bed now happily. I had to stop for a while because I started dreaming, which

slowly turned into awful night-mares for some reason, and they were beginning

to frighten me, so I had a couple of weeks back day-time dosing and now I am

almost two weeks back to night time dosing and doing fine. You should never t

Sioban and Sheila,

T3 can be taken with food. About 95% is absorbed either way.

T4 meds are grossly affected by food (or drinks), shifting from about 85%

absorption down to about half that with food. That makes Armour with food a T3

rich medication, which some people actually like, but you have to take a lot

more to get the same effects.

Can armour be taken with food if you do it sublingually?
