Guest guest
Thanks Sheila!! I started on 50mg a couple of weeks ago but only managed to take them for about four days because they really affected my anxiety disorder and i started having multiple panic attacks. Around a week ago i was started on a lower dose of 25mg and i have coped fine with that. I have to go back on the 27th to have it put up to 50mg I think. It's just that he basically said it was low. I asked for a printout of the test and he dragged his feet. He also said there was no need to have my adrenal glands checked because there was no connection. I really hope the thyroxine works!! :)Thanks for all the help guys! I'm really glad I found this group!Suzanna You need to ask your GP to refer you to an endocrinologist who specialises in thyroid (as opposed to diabetes). You definitely should be starting with thyroid hormone replacement as your TSH is way over the reference interval. Most laboratories have the reference range between 0.5 and 50 - and at 10.4 your thyroid is struggling. What your GP means when he says your results are low is that your thyroid hormone output is low. The Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) comes into play when your thyroid gland is not putting out the amount of thyroid your body and brain needs to make them function. TSH is secreted by your pituitary gland and it can tell when this is happening, so it sends out this TSH hormone to tell your thyroid to start pumping out the right amount of T4 and a little T3. You need to be started on Levothyroxine as soon as possible. Luv - Sheila Can someone help let me know what the test results mean please? Finally got my GP to give me a print out of my initial results. Cant see any reference to anything called T3 etc but have no idea what Im looking at anyway. GP told me my results were very low but looking at the figures I can see, they dont appear to be as low as some mentioned before. Hope someone can let me know what it all means. *OR......... Guest guest
Hi Suzanna Go to the Home Page of this forum web site and click on FILES in the Menu. Scroll down until you see the two questionnaires. One is on Adrenals and the other on Cahdida. Answer all of the questions and see how you score. This is important because if you are suffering either of these conditions, your thyroxine will simply not work as it cannot be absorbed until these conditions are made better. You also should get your ferritin level 9stored iron) checked. The reference range for ferritin is between 20 and 200 and yours should be around 70 to 90 to feel good. At the same time, ask your GP to check your B12 level. A very low reading will also mean your thyroxine will not work for you until you have raised the level with some form of elemental iron such as Ferrous Sulphate or Ferrous Fumerate. Are you allergic to maize or lactose. These are the fillers in Levothyroxine and some people cannot tolerate them. Mention this to your GP. If it turns out these fillers are the problem, then your GP can prescribe the pure form of Thyroxine (which is in capsules) which is manufactured by dale's Pharmacy. Your GP does NOT know the connection between low adrenals and your thyroid function. There is a MASSIVE connection and it looks like you will have to look after this condition yourself. Have you had the 24 hour adrenal salivary profile done to see where your cortisol and DHEA are at the four specific times during the day? If not, this would be a good idea and then we can take it from there. Luv - Sheila
Guest guest
I will look into the cost of the test etc but I'm on DLA because of the anxiety so it depends if its affordable to me. I know that for four years i suffered from chronic anemia and they could not find a reason why. I took iron tablets for two years and stopped a couple of years ago. I have not been tested since.I'll do the test today and see. Thanks for the help Sheila!! :)Suzanna Hi Suzanna Go to the Home Page of this forum web site and click on FILES in the Menu.
