Guest guest
Bob - my calcium tablets contain Vit D3 - should I not take it? Guest guest
Hi From my brief reading of this paper, it says Vit D3 should help with breast cancer prevention and potentially with remission also. I'll have to re-read it, to make sure I've understood it correctly. best wishes Bob > > Hi Bob > > I dont understand what this means. > > Can you explain in simple please. > > Chris >
Guest guest
I haven't had a chance to read the report and Bob's post is confusing me. Bob are you saying that taking Vit D3 will cause breast cancer? I take 50,000units of D once a week and this has me concerned if this is what you are saying. Also, my husband takes D at 50,000 units which he just started today. Guest guest
Hi Venezia, On a first reading, I came to the conclusion that Vit D3 is likely to prevent and/or cause remission of breast cancer. Whether it is advisable to use such a large excess of Vit D3, I don't know, and I'm going to have to re-read the letter from Cannell et al, posted elsewhere recently on this topic. Guest guest
Bob, I am wondering if the high dose is ok as long as one stays within normal levels. When I was first diagnose with low levels, I was at 18 and my level at its highest was 75 I believe which is still within the normal ranges. How could it be bad then? Guest guest
Hi My understanding is that it is OK to take Calcium with Vit D (VitD3 for preference) ~ I'm not so sure about the 'large excess of Vit D3' and I will need to re-read the recent article from Cannell and partners on just this subject. Guest guest
Hi Venizia That was my understanding of the recent paper by Cannell et al. I suspect the thinking is along the lines of 'test if using high doses'. Guest guest
Hi Bob This is an interesting write-up on Vit D: http://slate.msn.com/id/2105560/ From other reading on the subject it seems that perhaps in a minority of people 2000iu per day is too high. For my part, Ive been taking an average of 2500iu for a good 2 months, & whether this is the reason or not have been feeling a lot healthier than usual in these gloomy months of the year. I'm inclined to believe the people who say that Vit D is to be much preferred over a flu jab.
