Hi

From my brief reading of this paper, it says Vit D3 should help with

breast cancer prevention and potentially with remission also.

I'll have to re-read it, to make sure I've understood it correctly.

best wishes

I haven't had a chance to read the report and Bob's post is confusing

me. Bob are you saying that taking Vit D3 will cause breast cancer?

I take 50,000units of D once a week and this has me concerned if this

is what you are saying. Also, my husband takes D at 50,000 units which

he just started today.

Hi Venezia,

On a first reading, I came to the conclusion that Vit D3 is likely to

prevent and/or cause remission of breast cancer.

Whether it is advisable to use such a large excess of Vit D3, I don't

know, and I'm going to have to re-read the letter from Cannell

et al, posted elsewhere recently on this topic.

Bob,

I am wondering if the high dose is ok as long as one stays within

normal levels. When I was first diagnose with low levels, I was at 18

and my level at its highest was 75 I believe which is still within the

normal ranges. How could it be bad then?

Hi

My understanding is that it is OK to take Calcium with Vit D (VitD3 for

preference) ~ I'm not so sure about the 'large excess of Vit D3' and I

will need to re-read the recent article from Cannell and partners

on just this subject.

Hi Venizia

That was my understanding of the recent paper by Cannell et al.

I suspect the thinking is along the lines of 'test if using high

doses'.

Hi Bob

This is an interesting write-up on Vit D:

http://slate.msn.com/id/2105560/

From other reading on the subject it seems that perhaps in a minority

of people 2000iu per day is too high.

For my part, Ive been taking an average of 2500iu for a good 2

months, & whether this is the reason or not have been feeling a lot

healthier than usual in these gloomy months of the year. I'm inclined

to believe the people who say that Vit D is to be much preferred over

a flu jab.

Rgds
