Guest guest
Are you taking your levothyroxine at night. I would try this as it is helping some people with better sleep and feeling more refreshed the following day. Levothyroxine is better absorbed in the intestines at night. It sounds to me as if you need something stronger than the NA, though give it a try. If your adrenals need supporting because your thyroxine is not getting absorbed properly, you may need to have another thyroid function test to find out where your levels lie at the moment. Can this be arranged? What about your ferritin (stored iron) level, your B12 and your Vit D, magnesium and zinc levels. The problem might lie elsewhere Stephie. Did Dr P talk to you about these, or just suggest changing from NAE to NA? Are you not taking any levothyroxine at the moment. I would be tempted to start back now as there will be no way you will be able to get through Christmas without the thyroid support. Where are you seeing Dr P in January? Luv - Sheila Hi Sheila and all, Under advice from Dr P changed meds as above on Saturday. Did feel very tired but had done some Xmas shopping so put it down to that. As the nights have progressed I have been able to sleep less and less. I could always get back to sleep before but it takes hours now. Felt very achy last night also. Bowels seem to be on a go slow again and they had realy improved. I am supposed to up my levo alternate 75 and 100mg after being on NA for 10 days but do not feel I will make it to ten days. I am panicking with Xmas coming up not to be too unwell for all that that involves. I will be seeing Dr P in January for second time. Any advice/ experience of changing from anyone please. (Dr P thought the B6 ? might be stopping me sleeping so advised the change). However its got worse instead of better. Luv Stephie
Guest guest
Hi Stephie What form is the magnesium in? If it's Magnesium Oxide, it may not be absorbed very well, or at all. The way to improve matters might be to obtain some magnesium sulphate (Epsom Salt) in the first instance, just to get your GI system working. It's not ideal and I have used light magnesium carbonate as a source of magnesium, which dissolves easily in ascorbic acid (vit C) or other acidic media (eg lemon/orange). Serum magnesium levels tend to rise with hypothyroidism and to reduce with hyperthyroidism and/or on re-introducing thyroid hormones, when magnesium is rapidly re-absorbed back into the cells from the ECF (extracellular fluid). Blood/serum magnesium levels may not adequately reflect the intracellular magnesium status in any case....so no apology needed on that score. best wishes Bob --- In thyroid treatment , " stephanie.trolle " <stephanie.trolle@...> wrote > Hi Bob, > I have been taking one 400tablet of calcium and 200 mg magnesium > combined for many weeks now but do not have any official levels to > tell you, > Sorry > Stephie-
Guest guest
>Hi Sheila, Yes I am taking 75mg daily of the thyroxine. I did drop it to 50mg but if you recall that gave me loud crashing noises in my head. I tried taking levo at night when everyone else was trying it out but it makes me have bad dreams. I feel better taking it in the morning. I am getting bloods done on the 19th for the endo visit on the 30th so will get a copy of them. I am on the Leeds List for January to see Dr P. however the dates are not confimed yet. He did say he wanted to see me a couple of phone calls ago and I think the change of meds was something to try in the meantime. He did not mention anything about any other vitamins. It was mostly because I was still having the palps I think but a couple of days after I called him they seemed to improve quite a lot without making any changes. I did start taking the calcium/magnesium tablet earlier in the day which did coincide with this but may mean nothing. Luv Stephie PS Calcium magnesium is from Zip vit will check on the type for Bob when I get home. Yes i > > Are you taking your levothyroxine at night. Guest guest
NAE or NAX mean Nutri Adrenal Extra. NA - Nutri Adrenal Both these supplements are used to boost the adrenals for those suffering with low adrenal reserve. luv - Sheila Hi there, Please excuse my ignorance but new to this site and forum and trying to learn - what are NAX and NA? Guest guest
> > Hi Sheila, Thanks for the address. If Leeds is not going ahead I will get to see Dr Peatfield at yours. I have made an executive decision after feeeling unwell on the NA. I have gone back to the NAX. I will stay as am untill I can see Dr Peatfield. It was obviously not helping me absorb the Levothyroxine as I had a bad racing heart which lasted most of the night when I switched back again!! Definately suffered an overload of T4 all at once. Despite that managed to sleep better than I had done for the previous nights. It was fairly scary but because I read and re-read Dr P's advice I recognised what was happening. Hope to see you in January. Luv Stephie > > Is 2.00p.m. Monday 19th January 2008 OK for you Stephie.
