Hi

I have always had regular periods while being Hypo, it never affected my periods at all and they are regular and normal, so yes you can still bleed while being Hypo. Even before diagnosis my periods were never affected

Hope that helps a bit-

Hello every one hope you are all okay..xIve not had a period for over a year and when i had estrogen tested it was very low and my T4 is 13.6 (range 12-22)..I am booked up to go to clinic saturday to have my tests to get medicated but now I am bleeding heavier than i ever have in my whole life. I feel very drained and feels like my ovaries are being squeezed really tight..Does this mean my estrogen is normal now? Do you still bleed with Low thyroid..Thanks very confused Mandyxxxx

Hi Mandy

If it's any help, I always had really heavy periods until I started

having hypo problems...although to be fair when they disappeared I

thought(hoped)it was my age. I was 48 at the time. However, within a

very short time of starting Armour and NAE, they came back. A year on,

I'm on cortef now, but I have found that Serenity has helped enormously

and in fact my periods are more tolerable than they've ever been.

On the fluctuation problem, I understand that when the thyroid is

failing, or under stress, it can sometimes have a manic boost to try

and function again, which can lead to hypo and hyper problems. I'm sure

that other members will be able to tell you more about this.

Hi,

I had horrendously heavy and painful periods when I was hypo, but they were all

over the

place (and I'd been as regular as anything from the start).

Since I'm dosed right they're not heavy (for me) or painful and they're also as

regular as

clockwork again. For me it's one of the first signs my dose isn't right, my

cycle goes funny

:)

Hope you can get sorted,

Cat.

Thanks everyone xxx

Ive stopped bleeding now so I bleed for nearly two days, it was so

heavy Ive never had heavy bleeding before. I had a lot of pain aswell

but I always get more pain on the right side of my ovaries sort of

area. I think thats why the Piutitary woman wants to scan me nexy week.

Thanks so much. Im a bit nervous I have a neurology appointment

tomorrow at Barts (Neurologist for my right side problems) so Iam

hoping it will go well!!

I am also having my blood tests done ready for my appointment on the

10th With private doctor in london. He is also testing my anitbodies

for me I cant bear to see my doctor I end up so upset when i go, so Id

would rather just pay the 40.00 than go throught them saying we dont

need to test it!!

I spoke to the nurse yesturday about my periods and she said that it

sounds a bit like menopauseal symptoms I hope i am not in store for

early menopause but I know it does happen and i have read it happens

when you have an autoimmune condition hopefully Iam preparing myself

for the worst and then when my thyroid is sorted out it will all go

back to normal ....unfortunatley its not that simple..

Menapause at 33 that would be awful..fingers crossed its not ..

Thanks again speak soon
