I'm not crazy about chicory, but I love green tea and it is really good for O's.

Has anyone had chicory as a sub for coffee? How did you like it?

I am not crazy about chicory either, but there is another alternative

coffee sub (herbal?) called Teeccino.

Where I grew up the best " coffee " was 50/50 mix of chicory and

coffee. (We made it with milk not water as we did for coffee back

then - I'm 60 so " back then " was a few moons back). THAT 50/50 stuff

was delicious, even in instant coffee form - but I can not find

anything like it any more. It got popular to have " pure " coffee after

that - the planet seemed to get a thing about " pure " - and the mix

got socially unacceptable - yet IMO the chicory mix was MUCH yummier.

Not bitter.

I have not tried chicory alone.

Irene

Hmmmm.Irene, I just saw some chicory and coffee mix at Teeter. It was

$10. I hated to pay for it without tasting it first. Maybe I will break down

and buy it. I am looking for a coffee that is not so acidic, probably

watered down. I only drink 4oz. Does chicory fit that bill?

Yes.

What is the brand name? Where did you find it?

I would not mind getting some myself?

I dunno if it is an acquired taste or just nice to start with - but I

have good memories of it:-)

Much less - I do not like acidic coffee either.

There used to be coffee on the supermarket shelves called Luzianne. It was a

coffee/chicory blend.

I haven't noticed it in awhile, but I haven't looked, either.

It was a white can with red lettering

If you have an oriental, preferable Vietnamese grocery near you, check

it out. They usually stock Cafe Du Monde,

We found the Cafe Du Monde at HEB on the shelf next to some other type

of chicory coffee. Fantastic! My husband loves it.

Thanks.
