hello,

this is in response to message 24,

about ssri

2 years ago , I got a script for paxil,10mg(smallest dose you can take) for

panic attacks (not for my cfids)

it really turned out to be great for a few things --

better, longer, rested, sleep,

elevated mood, altho, that was not a problem

and general well being

I was happy with those positive effects

as for negative side effects --

decrease libido somewhat,

and unfortunately, I became slightly jaundice,

the jaundice was not severe, but of course it bothered me and family

members, most strangers may not have noticed it, but i could not get rid of

it and felt that it was directly resulting from the paxil, although i do not

think everyone will have that reaction,

it is not any more of a liver stressor than any other medication,

i think my particular condition is prone to liver sensitivity, altho on an

initial liver screen blood test, nothing came up as a red flag

i really liked the paxil alot and am sorry to have had to discontiue it, i

took it for 1 and a half years, it was about after the first 6 months that

my body started to work with it and i had the best results,

the sleep was wonderful, i could sleep through family morning noise and even

the telephone i was told, i could sleep late in the morning

also, it was great for my panic attacks, which virtually stopped

i miss it, but could not stand looking at a yellow face in the mirror,

that was upsetting

right now i am not doing any supplements, vitamins or anything for a bit,

am thinking of doing a 3 week ultra clear sustain diet,

ultra clear is cleansing protein drink, that one takes daily,

starting in small amounts and building up, one can also eat off a specified

menu of non allergy type foods

or one can follow ones own dietary limitations

i did the ultra clear in 1998 and i noticed postive results, it is just a 3

week regimen,

i got the ultra clear from a chiropractor near me, but one cannot buy it at

any retail store ( health food store or otherwise)

one has to get it from a licensed professional

i definitelly felt a benefit from it and as soon as i get the discipline i

will start another 3 week program,

back to the paxil, i think it is a great medication if one is considering

those kinds of meds

i have had cfids for 10 years, and found paxil to be one of the most helpful

things

also i work with the mentally ill in a nondemanding position which i

really enjoy (limited hours, 16 -24 hrs/week)

I see and hear alot about medications, their influence, side

effects.........

in talking with co workers, paxil is a " good " medication, it is mild and

subtle, and it works well

this is the first i have written to the list, i joined the beginning of may

it is supportive, and i enjoy learning the medical terms for my symptoms as

my doctor is somewhat supportive, but i have teach him about this illness

good to be in touch

I did a Medline search on peroxide and oral cancer over the last 5 years,

and did not get anything; a search on peroxide and cancer and induction

yielded 76 refs, with none having to do with cancer induction by H2O2.

That said, it is generally recognized that H2O2 as such is a agent that will

damage DNA, and can yield mutations that would lead to cancer. But it is a

very weak mutagen, especially compared with petrochemicals, and will not

penetrate unbroken mucosal membranes or cellular membranes to get into cells

where it can damage DNA. Its cancer-promoting action in the mouth is

probably limited to the local irritation and surface oxidation. That means

that ti would onlyl be a risk if overused; and would reduce the cancer risk

associated with infected gums.

...... " I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed that at certain major

junctions in their lives that they see the PA develop more rapidly " .....

...... " it all starts when something, illness, injury, stress, etc, triggers a

key in our immune system. this makes it think there is something trying to

harm us, and it goes into over time " .....

My P first showed up on a family vacation 6 years ago. We always seem to

push ourselves and try to fit too much driving and too many activities into

everyday and I tend to try and over organize things and get myself pretty

stressed out! The PA showed up last summer during a 5-week cross-country

trip (Oregon to New Brunswick, Canada and back!). Lots of fun but extremely

exhausting. I never got a full nights sleep (we pulled a pop-up trailer), we

ate really poorly because we were always in a hurry (and there was a

Mcs or Burger King around every corner) and it was very physically

demanding. A few years ago I developed ulcerative colitis (which, as I

understand it, is also caused by an overactive immune system) after getting

a parasite somehow. After taking medication to get rid of the parasite I

still had the symptoms. The doctor explained that my body " still believed I

had the parasite " and decided to keep attacking it! How nice. I'm working on

the stress thing....we are now planning our summer vacation and I'm

promising myself not to over do it!

Wishing you all a pain-free, itch-free day!

I believe many of us start with an incident we can remember. For me, my

first flare was during a period of extreme job stress. No one knew at the

time it was PA. I was diagnosed with EVERYTHING but. My diagnosis came

after a septic infection from a kidney stone. But even that took weeks for

the docs. to figure out it was PA.

--Amy, I'm sure everyone of us has similar experiences if they look

back. When I was just 26 years old I ruptured 2 discs in my back and

ever since then I have had problems. I used to tell people-Boy, don't

ever hurt your back-Your whole body will start to fall apart. I have

also had a major car accident and two hard surgeries all within two

years. All this has just about totaled me. I doubt if they could get

anything for me at the salvage yard. There was alot of stress at

work , raising teenagers and losing loved ones during these years

too. All we can do is try and hang in there but like most of us I'm

sure you find it as irritating as I do not to be able to do the

things you want or should be doing. Sometimes I feel so lazy because

I just cannot seem to accomplish anything! Have a Happy Day-We all

deserve at least that. DENA- In @y...,

Boy! I can relate to that. Also, I think sometimes since we don't show our

pain on the outside, others think that of us too. Just this week I had a

raging fight with my hubby because I told him I did something (I forget what)

around the house and he said " It's about time you did something " Grrrr! I

think I got so angry because he is usually so supportive. I know it was a

joke too, but it's still a woman's privilege to get mad at her husband,

right?? LOL

Cat-

So sorry! I confused you with the mom af another adult who has just

started to show some changes in behavior. I did a little search of your

very first post and now I have my facts straight. Now I wonder who the

other new member is who wrote in recently. There have been loads of new

members in the last month and some days I read the digest very quickly.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Ok I am jelious... I dont believe in Santa and we dont celebrate Christmas like

you all do , but I love hearing about your swaps.

I finally got to go to Kae's site and look arround, I truely love your

bunny soap molds and the things you sell on there. I am new to the group and am

learning to make soaps I have melt and pour soap stuff right now, with colors

and fragrances to add. I joined because we have

mini nubian diary goats and I love goat milk soap. I have had some from Pat

Fountain in Broadlibin and some from Dottie Cross down hear albany. I truely

love Pats Mint Goat milk soap and my mil loves her lavendar. I hope by next

year to be able to participate in the swap

and recieve such lovely things as you all have gotten. I have been busy taking

care of Faith who is now 4 1/2 months old. Today my mil brought us clothing to

go through from a cousin and with her was my hubbys nephew who just got out

of basic training and school.

Good thing I had put on hot water for tea and threw in Orange cinn. rolls.....

She was playing Santa brought up gifts for the family.

It is snowing like crazy here right now... we have gotten a few inches so far.

We are up on the hill outside Munnsville NY and it gets snowy here even when

Stockbridge valley gets nothing. It will be a white Christmas for most of you I

would think since its white here.

I am working on new pages for my website and will be adding things this coming

year. Lord willing I will be able to make more soap inbetween homeschooling the

boys and feeding faith.

Wellbutrin is no better than the SSRIS because it has the ability to cause

strokes (especially when combined with SSRIs) and seizures. Your friend's

problems are never going to go away as long as he is inthe clutches of the

psychiatric cabal. Almost all of us weaned off of multiple drugs without the

assistance of a doctor, most of whom know less than NOTHING about tapering

people off

psych meds. The bottomline is that the drugs don't work. Period. Look at

Saranya, LDN should always be taken between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. wherever

you are. Don't worry about the time zone change. If it's 10 p.m. in

India, take it then. Have a great trip.
