Guest guest
Google might help.... help required please and I are trying to find out of there is a list of folk/organisations/medical associations that are exempt from 'The Competition Act 1998' laws. We are both having a difficult time and I have telephoned the Office of Fair Trading who passed me on to my local Trading Standards and both told me each other should have such a list, but both deny it. The Harrogate Trading Standards are trying to help, but so far, they have not phoned me back as promised this morning. If anybody can help us by doing a little research on the Internet we would be extremely grateful. Whilst writing this, the phone just rang and it was TSO who tell me they can find nothing, and even though the person I spoke to has gone through (like and I) the Competition Act 1998 - she can find no such list. She is getting on to the Office of Fair Trading, but is not holding out any luck on this one as it was the OFT who said they had never heard of such a thing. We are convinced that there should be such a list of exempt associations though, but it must be very well hidden. A box of Liquorice Allsorts to the person who finds it LOL! Guest guest
…it might…but it hasn't. I have more or less worn Google out this past few days. I have also written to some online solicitors who have written back to tell me they are unable to help with this particular problem. Back to the drawing board. Guest guest
Hi Sheila The Competition Act 1998 has been repealed by the Enterprise Act 2002. Trading Standards, the OFT and the others should know this. If you look up the Enterprise Act 2002 it should give you some answers. Guest guest
Hi Thanks for this, but I was hoping that somebody might be able to look through such documents for us and give us the reference to where exactly this information is- if, indeed, it is there at all. We are spending our time doing nothing else but looking through Acts etc and desperately need some help from outside or it is likely we will sink - never to surface again ) Luv - Sheila If you look up the Enterprise Act 2002 it should give you some answers. Guest guest
I will search some stuff out for you Shiela when I can function properly again. Not quite sure I am clear about exactly what you are looking for. This is interesting though Super-complaints The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry can designate certain bodies which represent consumers to make super-complaints. Super-complaints can be made to the OFT by a designated consumer body when it thinks that a feature, or combination of features, of a market is, or appears to be, significantly harming the interests of consumers. I feel significantly harmed RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT *sigh. luv Dawnx
Guest guest
We are looking for a list of organisations/associations that are exempt from the laws in The Competition Act 1998 Dawn. has said that the Competition Act 1998 has been repealed by The Enterprise Act 2002 but this is not the case with our particular complaint. Under regulatory concepts, the potential for unfair practices and trading is not mentioned. Further, in the executive summary, it states that they are not looking for wrong doing - and we need the Act that is. If you can help (when you are felling better) to root out such a list in The Competition Act, this would be great. As far as 'Super-Complaints' are concerned, as has pointed out, we are not a designated body, but perhaps they should make us a 'designated body' as after all, TPA-UK represents hundreds of consumers who are being harmed significantly by 'traders'.
