Guest guest
I am still struggling with getting a real diagnosis. My TSH is 3.28. I have all the symtpoms of hypothyroid, especially the myxedema skin and the fatigue, foggy brain, no memory, no concentration, no energy to care for my 2 young kids. I found an endochronologist, he prescribed Armour to me, but I was told by other patients to take it sublingually on an empty stomach. That made me very sick, so I had to stop taking the Armour. I got an ACTH Stim Test a few weeks ago, it was 14.4 before the shot of cortisol and 29.3 after the shot. So I as told that my adrenals are fine. I am taking a saliva 4X cortisol test on the 4th of Dec 2008. I was told to wait until day 19 of my cycle to get the best results, I just started my monthly cycle yesterday (Nov. 16th), so now I have to wait almost 3 weeks to do the saliva test for an accurate result (according to ZRT labs). So I decided yesterday, to start the Armour again, this will be my 3rd attempt at trying to take this stuff. I tried something different this time, this time I took it WITH food and I swallowed it (I didn't take it sublingually) and it DID NOT make me sick yesterday, or today. I think this is good news (I hope). I have not officially had a formal diagnosis of hypothryoidism, even though my morning temp is only 97.2F every day and my TSH is 3.28. My doctor just said that if after taking the Armour successfully for 2 weeks, if I feel 50% better, then that means my thyroid was low. But today is only day 2 since I couldn't tolerate the armour the other times that I have taken it. I guess I will know in a few weeks if I feel better. But for now, I feel so overwhelmingly exhausted and finding it hard to function at all. I was thinking about taking Iodine, but I am not sure if it's for hyper or hypo? I am drinking 1/2 tsp of Himaylayan sea salt 2X per day and taking Licorice root in the morning as well as a multivitamin that has all the minerals and trace minerals in it, but I'm still feeling foggy and tired. Any advice on whether the iodine would work for me? At this point I don't know what else to do. I'm just tired of feeling so sick and tired all of the time, and most days I just want to throw in the towel and give up. Thanks, Mia
