Guest guest
Thanks Connie, Glad to know that, I suspected as much, I thought maybe someone with neuro problems misread the investigation information. I would hope they would do a lengthy and thorough investigation, and this all began on July 2, I would think it would be months before a determination is made. Whew! I did print out the Lymenet information and took it to my doctor today, he was quite surprised and stunned at this information and although he did not say so, I know he fears for his own practice. Guest guest
HI Di, Did you hear any more from your own doctor about his conversation with Doc B? For example should other Lyme doctors in other states be worried???? Did your doctor seem upset? Dr. B just stated that it is just a rumor and that his liscense is not suspended or revoked. And yes they are concerned for their patients . They did not mention any other doctors in other states in front of me so I have no idea abt that . Sorry Sweetie. If I do hear anything else I will pass it along. Guest guest
Thanks , I guess we are both in the same boat, although I am doing bicillin injections now and you've already finished them. I thought political problems and non-treatment of this disease would improve over time, wow, was I wrong about that! Guest guest
HI Lovette: Will just aking for a congressional hearing in a short note be sufficient? I hope it is cause I can't think of what I should say. thank you in advance best, lea << Dear Friends: I went to see Dr. B today. He now has a sign on his door that says " Lyme Warrior! " It seems appropriate. He really needs our support right now. He says that we should be writing a followup letter each week, innundating them with requests for a Congressional hearing. There was one in 1993, but they dropped the ball. I know we're all tired, but if we could write to our congress people maybe that's a start. Guest guest
Thanks Lovette, I am glad to hear that. I have been thinking about the poor doctor and wondering what is happening. I will send off some letters weekly. I sure wish someone with a website could set up one where we could get lots of signatures for a petition. Maybe I will write to Art Doherty and see what he thinks of the idea. Hope you are feeling better, Marta NJ >From: " F. Mott " <smott@...> > >Dear Friends: I went to see Dr. B today. I DO NOT have the capacity to do that but I can tell you that they really work. We were able to close down the animal chutes in TN because (I believe) that site that had the petition that you could either sign online or make a hard copy and print it out and have people sign it. Surely, if we could do that, we could help Dr. B!! Maybe we could even close down the likes of Lenny (the SLYME Weasel) sigal?? Wouldn't that be great? Marleen Please visit http://www.imom.org/ If you do, you can also shop online at Amazon.Com or buy many items at iGive at this site and IMOM with receive a donation to continue their work with animals. Guest guest
Hi Lea, As soon as some of my motion sickness goes away, I will attempt to prepare sample letters to congress for the group. In the meantime here is one I sent out awhile ago, you can get some ideas from it. I am not a resident of your state, but I would like to make you aware that Dr ph Burrascano who practices medicine in your state is presently be investigated for the overtreatment of Lyme disease. I want to protest this action. Since his 1993 testimony before the US Senate Labor and Human Resources committee chaired by Senator Ted Kennedy, Dr Burrascano has been repeatedly subjected to investigations where files of his patients have been pulled and his diagnostic and treatment standards questioned. So far he has always successfully defended himself, but of course not without substantial legal costs. There is no guarantee that he will be successful this time. But elected officials, if convinced of the injustice of the attack against him, might find a way to help him. The stakes are high: He is one of our highest profile LLMDs. He publishes, in respected medical journals (e.g. Conn's Current Therapy), diagnostic and treatment guidelines that have opened the doors for many of us to receive the treatments that allow us to heal. He consults with many physicians with difficult-to-treat patients. He is the recipient of the Lyme Disease Resource Center's 1998 Distinguished Physician Award. I am a Lyme patient for three years. There is no current established protocol for treating Lyme disease, particularly in later stages. It is difficult enough dealing with insurance denials due to this fact, without having to lose one of our most respected physicians who has devoted his life to finding answers and treatment for those of us who suffer with Lyme disease. Recent investigations of Lyme doctors nationwide are creating a climate where some physicians no longer wish to treat Lyme disease at all - for fear of becoming a target. Other doctors leave us underdiagnosed and/or undertreated, supporting the development of chronic problems and then turning us away. There are no definitive diagnostic tools - current blood testing is unreliable, the disease can evade immune system detection, and there is research supporting chronic persistent infection. The scientific debate over both diagnosis and treatment has taken on political, rather than scientific overtones. The harassment of physicians who treat difficult, complex or chronic patients must stop or we will soon be left with no medical assistance whatsoever. I implore you to look into this matter as soon as possible to prevent the Lyme community from losing an excellent physician and possibly our only salvation. Sincerely, Marta L. Guest guest
Marta, I think a petition is a great idea. Let me know if I can help in any way. I sent info about the letters I wrote for Dr. B on Flash, and they also mentioned putting together a petition. If we start one, we can also let them know, if they do it first, I'll let you know. Good luck, hope you have a good day. Vicki Re: [Lyme-aid] Dr. B >From: " J & M McCoy " <mlmccoy@...> > >Thanks Lovette, > I am glad to hear that. Guest guest
Dear Lea: Just a short note would be fine. Why don't you do a 2 paragraph letter where the first paragraph tells about how you have chronic lyme and have had difficulty in receiving treatment. Further the medical community has differing versions of how you should be treated and the patients are caught in the middle of this political battle. Therefore, request a Congressional hearing so that the truth about this disease can come out and funding can be appropriated for research. Guest guest
Dear Friends: I also wanted you to know that I got the pneumonia vaccine yesterday. It's not a live virus, so Dr. B is putting his patients on it. It lasts for 5 years, so maybe you can ask your docs if it is a good idea for you. Also, one of the people in the office has a personal theory about the encephalitis scare. She said that she thinks it is just a way to deflect attention away from the real problem, which is lyme disease. She suspects that most of these people have a tick borne illness. For instance, encephalitis can be caused by lyme or erlichia, and malaria can be easily confused with babesia. Interesting... Guest guest
Sure Lea, That's why I posted it, just be careful you don't include my personal information, make sure you put your own history in the letter too. Of course if you are writing to congressmen in your own state, be sure to leave out the line, " I do not reside in your state " . Hugs, Marta NJ >From: Memyo@... > >Hi Marta >Thank you so much. Guest guest
Daphne, Dr. Bihari's been out of the office, because he fell and needed surgery on his hand. Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, he'll be back in a few weeks. ________________________________________________________________ Speed up your surfing with Juno SpeedBand. Now includes pop-up blocker!
