Guest guest
Try VitaSpelt pretzels or sweet potato chips for crunchies. The VitaSpelt pretzels do have soybean oil, and I'm not sure what organic malt is. But they're ok occasionally. And the Olive Oil and Sea Salt brand makes a good sweet potato chip. I haven't found them in the store, and I have called them to order a " case " (12 bags), which is less expensive than most at the stores, and better ingredients. I like Rudi's Organic Spelt and Ancient Grain Spelt breads, too. I think potato starch may be way down on the list. If you're not trying to overcome sickness, the occasional avoid shouldn't hurt you too much. Maybe a little drainage in the throat the next day. If you can find a bakery that does a nice rice bread, try that. I also like Food for Life brown rice tortillas. They do have safflower oil, and break pretty easily. I find if you heat them on a skillet or in the microwave, they become more pliable. I've also been experimenting with quinoa, millet, and amaranth as rice alternatives, though organic brown basmati is good for O (BTD) or Gatherer (GTD). Of course, if you can cut out all or most grains, you're really better off. I can do it for short times, and I always come back to my comfort foods! I'll watch out for Annie's since I'll be going to Whole Foods on Tuesday. I really like Berlin Bakery spelt bread and Spelt Right bagels. Yes! so many gluten-free products have corn and potato products, etc. Makes me so mad. <http://lindas365project.blogspot.com/> ________________________________ From: " lescase@... <mailto:lescase%40aol.com> " <lescase@... <mailto:lescase%40aol.com>> My husband sort of proudly brought home some Annie's Spelt pretzels recently. The ingredient label's 1st ingredient is Organic wheat flour, then organic spelt flour. Anyway, we sent our gripe to Whole Foods and Annie's. Both responded that we should be reading the ingredient labels (true!). But whole foods says the customer obviously doesn't realize that spelt is wheat. Of course, I know spelt is a type of wheat, but to me the current standard of wheat is the version with an incompatible (or higher content) of the lectin that's incompatible to the O blood type. I find personally that spelt seems to digest better. Just venting!! oh, and is anyone else frustrated by all the gluten free products that are filled w/ avoids ?!
