Guest guest
Hi all, I posted to this group last week regarding DLA, and I'd like to that all that responded. On Monday this week I visited a GP at my practice, and asked for a full range of TFT's which I may or may not get ( it depends if the lab think it's warranted. However I saw a consultant rhuematologist the week before, and he'd done some thyoid tests, so I rang his sec for results. She was unwilling to give me the full results until he'd 'interpreted them, and I wasn't in the mood to push it (energy/mood/cognitive function has been so bad, I can't deal with things). However she did say my TSH is low at 0.05. At the moment I can't work out what this means, due to the brain fog. I do know that I've been feeling worse than I've ever felt! I also had a Kenalog injection (intra-muscular), and have had some side effects such as burning, red face (so bad I had to sit with cucumber slices all over my face the other night!), and an almost continuous headache. Kenalog is an anti-inflammatory steroid, and has certainly helped with the pain and swelling in my hands and feet - what effect would it have on my adrenal function, anyone know? I insisted my gp refer me to an endocrinologist, which he agreed to do, but when I mention 'controversy' around TFT's, he said it wasn't controvery, just that some 'unqualified people believe things that there is no medical evidence for'. I'd really like to be able to show him some official research that proves otherwise - is there any? Anyway, hopefully I'll be seeing Prof n , at Manchester Royal Infirmary - anyone know him? Lots of questions in this. It's all wearing me out. Hopefully something good will come out of it. Thanks for this forum - just knowing that I'm not on my own with it really helps! love, A

Guest guest
But the answer is yes, people with low TSH also need iodine. -- On 26 Aug 2011 at 14:56, Kathleen Blake wrote: > Hi Bonnie, > Each person has to decide for themselves if they want to take > iodine.
