Hi Lilian

I would be inclined in the first instance to cancel that appointment

and ring around the other choices and find out the waiting time and

proceedure, then make a choice.

I think you will have to cancel first because they wont be very

helpful otherwise as they will know you already have an appointment.

word, and a list of hospitals. None locally unfortunately. The

nearest is 40 miles away.

clinic at Papworth. They ask for the reference number, birth date

etc. She then tells me the earliest appointment is 8th December

at 9am. That's good I thought, but I could not get there by 9am

so she offers me 11am. Great.

appointment. They will need to ask me some further questions to

see where I need to go. I said I thought it was Papworth and the

appointment was for 11am on the 8th.

me some questions, and make an appointment for me to go to the

clinic. So this can mean months of waiting - and not being

allowed to drive.

as you are phoning to book an appointment for someone to phone you

to make an appointment.

Hi Lilian

Would an 'ambulance' car driver help get you there, to London?

Good point Bob. Lilian maybe your GP wouldn't mind arranging transport

as he has stopped you driving.

I think the NHS pay your fare anyway Lilian, they did when a local

consultant here in Devon referred me to a clinic in London.

On a smaller scale they also paid my taxi fare to and the from the

local CFS clinic last month.

Words fail me. What a strange system. There is nothing to say except

how stupid that all is, endo, GP, Papworth, the lot.

Here's hoping it's not months from the phone call and that they can

say something sensible!.

Love,

Kat

you are phoning to book an appointment for someone to phone you to

make an appointment.

Hi Lilian,

It's a scam to allow them to delay making an appointment until

it's 'convenient' for them. They're probably recording that as meeting

their 'target' on appointments ~ it's fraudulent and should be exposed.

Complain to the PCT, copy to the MP (and maybe the local paper).

best wishes

Bob
