Guest guest
Hi, again. The reason I'm trying the iodine is because doctors have told me to have my thyroid removed because of my multi-nodular goiter, with some of the nodules more than 4 cm. I've had biopsies and they've been benign. But it seems that 4 cm is the size that doctors are uneasy about leaving the thyroid in place, in case the biopsy missed the cancer. I should mention that my thyroid functions normally on all the thyroid tests. Also, I've had a double mastectomy because of breast cancer in one breast and my ovaries out because of cysts (benign). I not interested in shedding any additional body parts if I can help it! One more question, should everyone supplementing with iodine take salt and if so, how much and what kind? -- Michele
Guest guest
Hi , I am in the same boat except I go for my biopsy on Thursday. I have had pain in my breasts for the last 6 months with an ultrasound showing nothing. I had a total hysterectomy last summer. I have one nodule it is 4.56 cm in length and about 2.5 cm high and 2.5 cm wide. My thyroid hormone test have all come back in the normal range. I still have not had any definitive answers either. I have been trying hard to put off the surgery. I have been on liquid iodine since August and had started to have headaches but then I quit for 4 weeks and had 2 episodes of the headaches during that time, so I do not know if the iodine was causing bromide detox or what exactly causes the headaches. I would like to think that the iodine detoxes the bromide but what would cause the headaches while I was not doing the iodine? I was a heavy Gatorade user for the last year before I found out it had the bromide in it. I am fairly sure it is the cause of my problem. I never experience headaches before the nodule was found. I am still unclear of the protocol for the salt intake. I started to have a headache the other night and had a couple of oranges and that seemed to help it. I am thinking the Vit C may have helped? Some days I don't notice the lump but other days it causes my neck to feel stiff and sore and I have a harder time swallowing. Then the next the lump feels smaller. seems to really vary. I think it feels the smallest right after the more intense headaches. So I am wondering if it is a big dump of something toxic. Anyway good luck in your journey. Guest guest
Goiters are caused by a lack of thyroid nutrients. They are but not limited to - see my website at www.naturalthyroidchoices.com Iodine / Iodide Selenium Magnesium Zinc Sodium (lack of good unrefined salt to support the Sodium Iodine Symporters - NIS) Also toxicity from halides blocking the NIS such as fluoride, bromide, chloride and mercury. Mainly bromide. Many with mouths full of mercury amalgams experience issues too. Yes there have been some that have been successful in reducing goiter and nodules. The issue that may arise is the length of time it has been there and the amount of scar tissue that has occurred. If there is too much scarring it would not be reduced. You will want to get your antibodies checked - Tg Ab and TPO Ab to see if you have an autoimmune thyroid disease such as Hashimotos. Steph multi-nodular goiter I have a multi nodular goiter and I was wondering if anybody has been successful at shrinking one? I was thinking of taking iodine. Do you think that would make it wirse or better? Maybe armour would be better. Thanks, Alan
