Guest guest
Hi All Hubby's just brought home an article he found in a work colleague's Sun newspaper (...we aren't Sun readers!) from " Dr 's medical column " . It goes as follows: I have an underactive thyroid and so I take 75mcg of thyroxine per day. I still feel lousy with joint aches and tiredness, but a blood test for my thyroid is now OK, and my GP won't increase the dose. Can you help? LUCHESA, by email Dr 's reply: An underactive thyroid can make you feel rotten, though often, it causes no symptoms at all - typically, it's discovered on some " routine " blood tests. A blood sample should show whether you're on the right dose of thyroxine. If so, your symptoms almost certainly have nothing to do with your thyroid - there must be some other cause. So, I suggest you have another chat with your GP. (ends) Apparently, Dr can be contacted by email at drkeith@.... Pen x
