Guest guest
Does anyone know the range for thyroid antibodies tests? My son, who lives in Cumbria, has had a thyroid test. His T4 is 16 and his TSH is 5.6. Their upper range for TSH is 6! He has also had an antibodies test and he has been told that it is high, though they didn't tell him as the person giving the results did not understand how to interpret them!!! They are reluctant to treat him as he is in the " normal range " . Would you suggest he asks to be referred to an endo? He is very lethargic and we are sure this is due to his condition. I'll ask him to ring the doctor to get the antibodies results and then we can make a decision what to do next.
Guest guest
Hi , if your son has high auto-antibodies then this is autoimmune thyroidits.(hashimoto`s disease). you will need to see an endocrinologist, one who no`s about the thyroidnot one who only deals with diabetes . auto-anti bodies sees your thyroid gland as foreign, and sets our to destroy it. so he needs to get treatment to stop this process.also supplements and vitamins to support the glands as they sometimes get weak as well. it is all about balancingthe endocrine system. hope this helps angel.
